I just got done at school after rehearsal. I had my earbuds on, listening to my favorite band, 5 Seconds of Summer. I was walking to the bus when I felt someone tap my shoulder. I took out one earbud and turned to look at the person. He was slightly taller than me, maybe by a few inches. He had dirty blonde, short, slightly messy hair and wore a grey pull-over hoodie. His eyes were a mix of blue and grey, with a halo of green surrounding his pupils. I've seen this guy before, but I've never actually had a real conversation with him. When he spoke, his voice had a slight rasp to it and was moderately deep. -Look at me being so observant.-
"H-Hey, would it be okay if I sit with you?"
My heart skipped a beat. My voice almost broke when I tried to answer him.
"Y-Yeah. That's alright."
He gave me a bright smile that showed off his dimples, and I almost lost myself in him right there. When we got on the bus, I sat by the window and he sat by the isle, because he gets off before me. After a short time in silence, he nudged my arm and asked me what I was listening to. I looked at him, took the earbud out again, and asked him to repeat himself. -It's so like myself to do that.-
"What are you listening to? If you don't mind me asking."
I looked into his eyes, which was a big mistake.
"N-No, that's okay. I'm listening to 5 Seconds of Summer."
It felt like his eyes were staring into my soul, but not in a bad way. He looked confused, so I kept speaking.
"They're my favorite band. Want to listen?"
I offered him the other earbud.
"Sure, why not?"
He took the earbud and started listening to it. The road was bumpy so we kept bouncing slightly. Eventually, my shoulder was pressed against his. It felt weird to make physical contact with him, but it also felt good, like, really good. My arm was warm and it felt like I was being picked by pins and needles. The sensation was almost overwhelming. Neither of us moved from that spot. When we were about halfway to his house, he must have noticed that I was staring at the moon, because he nudged me again.
"Why do you keep staring at the moon?"
He gave out a little chuckle after saying that, which made my stomach knot up. Then I gave the cheesiest response that I have ever given in my entire life. -God damn it! Stop being stupid!-
"It's simple. It's because it's beautiful. It's in human nature to have the desire to look at something beautiful."
He looked at me with slight confusion. -Good going.- Then, we went into silence. I felt an odd feeling like someone was watching me, so I turned to look at him. He was looking contently at me. My cheeks turned to a rose red color, and my heart was beating at an irregular speed. I was burning up and couldn't cool down. My voice was so quiet I didn't know if he would be able to hear me.
"Why are you looking at me like that?"
My heartbeat picked up even more. I was having heat flashes and cold chills at the same time. I couldn't believe what he said.
"Just as you said, it's in human nature to stare at something beautiful."
I froze. I couldn't move. I felt completely trapped. Before I knew it, his face was a lot closer. His eyes trying to hypnotize me. I could feel the heat coming off of his skin. He was still coming closer. I realized then that I was leaning closer to him, too. Our foreheads lightly touched and we brought our lips closer and closer until they were almost touching. Then, in the blink of an eye, our lips met. His right hand lightly gripped my waist, his left hand slowly gliding up to my hair. I found my hands exploring him, but I didn't stop them. I had a desire to get to know him in more ways than one. Even though the sensation was something I didn't want to stop feeling, our experience was short lived.
"THIS IS YOUR STOP!"
We pulled away as soon as the lights came on. My hair was a complete mess and his shirt was wrinkled. The bus was stopped at his house. He took the earbud out, gave it back to me, and walked to the door. Before leaving, he turned around, looked at me, winked, and gave me a smirk that would forever be carved into my mind. Finally, he turned back around, and walked out of the door.
As soon as he got off of the bus, I heard the ending of a song in my earbuds. My heart skipped a beat. The song was "Kiss Me Kiss Me" by 5 Seconds of Summer. -How ironic...-
