'nothing gold can stay.'
but you know what I think?

gold will stay,
free of corruption and rot,
if you preserve its beauty
in your heart.

gold can stay,
because it's all around us:
the twinkle of the stars,
your teasing eyes,
flowers sprinkled with morning dew,
and smiles that are as bright as the sun.

as long as you wake up,
and aren't blind to the gold all around us,
it will stay.
