Maya Hart's Point Of View
Today is Wednesday, we're halfway through the week, I ponder on some things as I head to my favorite class, History, Taught by one of my favorite teachers Mr. Matthews. His daughter is my Absolute Best Friend, her name is Riley. Riley and I have been friends since 2nd grade, she was such a good girl and still is.
Once I finally made it to class I got in my usual seat right next to Rileys. Behind me sat Lucas Friar, one of my best friends whom I call "huckleberry" or "Ranger Rick" "Ranger Roy" or "bucky-mcboing-boing" and many other names, but mostly "huckleberry"
Next to Lucas, behind Riley is our Fourth wheel Farkle Minkus, best friend of Riley and Maya since Second grade. Lastly behind Lucas is Zay Babineaux. Zay is lucas' friend from back in texas, when Zay moved here we gladly welcomed him with open arms.
As Mr. Matthews was teaching I kept zoning out, thinking about my unrealistic crush on Riley's uncle who happened to be two years older than us, his name is Joshua. Riley knew that I liked him but I'm pretty sure she thinks I'm over him but I don't have the guts to tell her I'm not.
Josh Was in Grade 12 and We were in Grade 10. Josh Currently lives with his older brother, mainly because he wants to go to The University of New York he needs to be able to get instate tuition, and since his parents live in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania he would get out of state tuition and that makes the school like a thousand times more expensive.
I've gotten to know Josh a lot more these past couple of months and he's practically perfect. I just wish there was a way I could tell him I liked him without actually telling him I liked him.
..."Maya.." ...."Maya" .... "Maya" ...
I hear my friends calling my name snapping me out of my thoughts
"um, sorry. What were you saying?" Riley looked at me with a weird expression on her face
"It's time to go. Class is over. Time to go home" she laughed.
I picked my stuff up, shoving them into my backpack. I looked back up at Riley and I see Josh walk into the classroom "hey kiddies" he says looking at us, then proceeding to talk to his older brother.
"Hi Josh, Bye Josh" Riley says grabbing my hand pulling me out of the class room. We meet up with Lucas, Zay and Farkle
"Hey, Do y'all want to go to the Coffee Shop?" Zay asks us as we approach them, Riley says yes, while smiling at Lucas. As we stand there I hear footsteps behind me then I feel an arm placed around my shoulder, i look up and Josh is standing there.
I start freaking out, trying to contain myself I inform the group that I can't go to 'Topangas' The Coffee shop that Rileys parents own. "I can't go ya see, because I have...um...homework" I lie, I grabbed my backpack and walked away.
I open the door to the school, I walk to the Train station, I hear someone running behind me "Maya!" He yells, I look back and it's Josh. I clamp up, feeling nervous, I stop walking, letting him catch up with me.
"Maya, what's wrong?" He looked at me, while trying to catch his breath.
"Nothing, why?" I was confused
"Um, because you kinda freaked out as I came over, and you left, you were going to hang out with Riley, I thought anyway." His words hit me, he knew I kinda freaked out.
"Um yeah well, I have homework that needs to get done. It's due tomorrow." He analyzed my face. "do you need help with it?" "No." I shot him down "um. No thank you. I've got it." You couldn't tell exactly but he seemed disappointed with my answer, I felt bad now.
"I should go" was all he said and proceeded to walk away.
"Josh. Wait." I walked up to him, grabbing his arm, he looked down and my hand on his arm "I'll probably see you later, My moms working late and Shawn is out of town so I'm going to rileys for dinner." And honestly that seemed to cheer him up
"Please come to Topangas with us. You can do your homework later" he begged
"Josh, are you asking me out?" I questioned him
"If I said yes will you go?" He joked and I nodded yes. He held out his hand for me to take, i debated for a moment if I should take it or not, but I decided to take it.
We held hands as we walked back to the group. "I got her to come with us!" He laughed, I looked up at him smiling slightly "DID YOU KISS HER?" Riley questioned and was kinda freaking out. "No!" He shot her down instantly "let's just go." I let go of his hand, walking over to Zay
"Hey." I looked at Zay
"Did he kiss you?" He questioned, whispering to him "no. No he didn't." Zay rubbed my back, Zay spoke up "Guys let's go to topangas" we all began walking over to topangas.
When we got to topangas, we all went to sit in our normal seats, josh came over to me and asked to talk to me outside, I nodded, standing up following him outside. We sat on a bench outside.
I sat there in silence, waiting for him to speak. "Maya, I like you and I know you like me too, so why is this so hard for you to admit to me that you like me?" He spoke so fast that I could barely catch everything he said. "Wait what?" I said just a little confused.
He looked at me, leaning in all he did was kiss me, I kissed back. We both pulled away at the same time, "Josh..."
