i've seen life on both sides, that's what makes it hard now that I struggle. Imagine waking up everyday in a big house with food in the fridge, hot breakfast on the table and every Christmas a tree full of gifts. Then you blink and all of that is gone, and your years older.. not old enough to call yourself grown but old enough to start realizing you have to get it on your own. One morning I came from school, and I overheard my parents arguing in the room. "I don't understand how you expect to just get up and leave." " If i'm not happy why stay here in the middle of nowhere struggling." I put two and two together and figured that meant things weren't as peachy as my parents made it seem but they did a damn sure good job. Fast forward a few months later, we were packing up the house. I overheard my mother in the bathroom crying. I knew she was trying to cover it up because the water was running but I knew she wasn't showering because she went in the bathroom with no towel or wash cloth. I couldn't just ask her was she crying because I knew she would lie, which was her job so I had to make an excuse for her to open the door. " Mom do I pack the dishes separately or wait for you to come out?" As she blew her nose and sniffled she quickly responded weakly " Just wait for me and start packing your room up." As I acted as if I was walking away I heard her pick up her phone. " I don't know what you expect me to do. I have kids, and a husband. I made a mistake and I want you to stop calling me." I was going to continue to listen to see if I could figure out who that was but she quickly got up and opened the door and I ran into my room as if I was packing but as she walked past my door all I could see was hurt and misery. My dad had already left a few days earlier because his job required him to start working immediately. I wondered would he know who that was on the phone. As I helped pack up the last few things I just was so scared because all I knew all I ever was around was about to be miles away. I was about to be in a whole different city, and little did I know my life was about to change drastically.
