Mia's POV
I woke up to the sound of my phone vibrating against the hard-wooden surface of my beside table. The incessant buzzing barely woke me from my sleep, meaning the best movement I could achieve was flailing an arm around blindly until I hit the snooze button.
After lying in bed groaning internally for a further 5 minutes, I lifted my face from my pillow, trying not to squint my eyes at the scattered rays of light entering through my thin curtains.
I rolled over and attempted to grab my phone from the table, only knocking it off, requiring me to physically get out of bed to retrieve it.
I did a huge sigh before mustering the energy to throw my legs over the side of the bed, bend down and pick up my phone. I quickly filtered through my notifications from various social media, stopping on a message from my good friend Reilly.
Hey girl! I'm so sorry to do this to you buy I'm sick as a horse right now so could you be a doll and cover my photography gig tonight? Xx – R
I rolled my eyes, expecting something like this to happen. It's always when I'm looking forward to a free day that something will come up and change those plans.
I positioned the phone in my hands, readying my reply;
You're lucky I like you!! Let me know when and where. Hope you feel better and when you do you owe me dinner! Xx – M
I stood up from my bed, walking over to my cupboard to retrieve my dressing gown and a towel, before exiting my room and making my way to my bathroom. The journey to the bathroom included passing Angie's room, which was currently occupied with her sleeping alongside Noah. Although they left the door open and they were only sleeping this time, my eyes have seen many other activities occurring in that room due to an open door. Would it kill them to close the goddamn door? (Sorry I had to!)
I slipped into the bathroom, locking the door behind me and proceeded with my morning routine. By the time I exited the bathroom, with my robe around my body and a towel wrapped around my head, Angie and Noah were awake and eating cereal at the breakfast bar.
So let me give you a run-down of the situation. I am living in Vegas, currently sharing an apartment with my forever best friend Angela and her boyfriend of 5 years Noah. Angela and I graduated high school 4 years ago (wow how time flies!) and Noah 5. After taking a gap year, in which I worked part-time at a department store and did a short photography course, I am currently coming to the end of my bachelor's degree.
"Hey, how are you this morning?" Angie asked with a mouthful of cereal.
"Well I'm up before 9 so how do you think I am?" I asked sarcastically, filling my own bowl with cereal and sitting down opposite her.
"Alright, someone is in a mood then!" Noah chimed in.
I shot him a glare so he immediately shut up.
"I was just looking forward to a free day and now I have to cover for Reilly," I admitted, filling my own mouth with frosted flakes.
"Aww I'm sorry hun. That always seems to happen to you, doesn't it?" Angie said, slurping the milk from the bottom of her bowl.
I pulled a face of disgust, the slurping sound making all my hairs stand on end, "It seems to!"
After breakfast was done, I journeyed back to my room where I put on my jogging gear and headed out of the apartment for my morning jog. That's another thing that's changed, I've tried to take better care of my body, eating healthier when I can be bothered (which is a lot less often than it should be) and exercising more.
