Rain scrambles my brain

Janet saw the chickens. They were shivering in the rain. She really wanted to help. But chickens don't understand us. How can they? We eat them.
Janet walked to school under the rain. And not one driver offered her a lift. She wanted to be angry and spiteful but Janet had no idea why they did not stop. And so she did not judge.
Janet got to class late anyway, how could she not. She spent almost an hour walking to class. There was an assignment she was not aware of. It was due today. The lecturer gave an extension of a day.
For Janet, this was the kindest act since this month began.
