They flow out like honey
Yet sting like a bee
All they do is confuse
These things you say to me.
I love you, I hate you
I'll be there for you
Now I'm gone
Please stay with me
Or go ahead, move along.
It scratches and pulls at me
It tears the clothes off my mind
And I never even noticed
But they always said love was blind.
Sweet lies in my ear always made me feel light headed
Promises you wont keep
Hopes soon to be shredded.
But I basked in your light
While being blind as the night
Naïve of this act
And when it finally ended the room filled with your laugh.
You scoffed and you scorned
I already knew my mistake
You snatched up my trust
That wasn't yours to take.
And now I'm stuck here sinking in your sweet lies
I'm lying here alone
But with no tears left to cry.
Now I can see you walking
Your new toy by your side
You lean down and mumble something most likely fake
And so I whisper in despair
You've messed up, made a mistake.
You'll fall for his trap
His web of sweet lies
Like a spider to his prey
He'll attack taking a trust that wasn't his to take.
And as I lay here thinking
Pondering the words in my mind
I giggle to myself
What a nasty truth these sweet lies hide.
