Joule's POV
As I dragged Zek with me, I heard gunfire and some random magical noises. I pulled out a gun in my back pocket to prepare myself. As we arrived at the front lines, I could see troops from the magical alliance charging in. Catherine was behind cover and yelling directions. She saw me, and yelled:
"Get your mech! They mean business!" I told Zek to stay back and ran towards the armory. I jumped on to my best friend and turned on her power. I never get tired of her awesome red paint (tier 3). We stormed out on to the battlefield and I activated my laser beam. Samuel and Lyra dodged just in time but the stupid minions weren't so lucky. Back then, I never turned on the full power because we were all fighting for fun. But ever since the war started, I never turned it off, in constant fear that we will never know when they attack. Meaning the ones that got hit, there is no trace of them if ever being alive, or even existed. As my buddy kept firing, I grabbed a sniper rifle and shooting at heroes. But we were playing the trench game, shooting from cover. Then, the next thing I knew was that Baptiste and Flicker appeared right before us and the other side was charging right into the No Man'd Land. Realizing they were stealth the entire time, I quickly fall back into our second defense line. Poor comrades, I didn't have time to warn them-
Shit.
Zek was directly at the front lines, and I left him behind! I tried to yell for him to fall back, but idiot was just leaned against the sandbags, listening to music, still.
There goes another recruit.
Or so I thought.
The dude reacted faster than light and created a energy barrier between the two sides. The entire army fell over and retreated. All except one. Samuel. Fucker reached for his two wands and fired at Zek as the shield was canceled.
Blood spurred from his shoulder as he screamed in pain. Samuel stole a shit ton of energy and health from him and the enemy was charging again, but Samuel stopped them. We held fire as we watched Samuel stare at the helpless recruit.
"Your blood... it's-" Samuel was cut off by Zek's grin. His eyes shot wide open and spat out disgusting dark liquid. Samuel wiped his mouth as Zek got up.
"Yeah. It's poisonous." Zek chuckled as he got up, but he wasn't standing straight. He was slouching, like what you would see from a maniac.
"Not just that... it has..." Samuel dropped to his knees as Lyra ran forward and teleported him out. The enemy retreated as we cheered and yelled in joy. But it was cut off short by Zek's screaming. It didn't sound painful, or hurt.
It sounded of agony.
The feeling of being burnt alive.
The feeling of being tortured in twisted and dark ways.
The sound was buried deep into my mind.
Dark wings ripped out his his back, shooting blood in every distance. His hands was turning into what I couldn't imagine. He then collapsed, and all those things were gone, back into his body. I ran to him and turned him over. I asked:
"Are you okay, the fuck was that?"
"That asshole, he stole a bunch of blood alright." He chuckled with blood coming out. Another recruit was gone. Tears filled my eyes as he laughed.
"I'm not gonna die... this happens a lot. I'll wake up in a few days." He closed his eyes and went to sleep. He looked dead. He felt dead. There was no pulse.
It was gone.
It hasn't even been a day yet.
And he was gone.
