poppies
bright like the twinkle in your eye shown only when you look at me

peachy pink
like the soft infinity of your lips
dainty petals
shrivel when paid little attention to

am i really your love?
you said you loved poppies,
but you abandoned them
fed them with love and affection
then left them to die,
alone, with no one to keep them alive

the once beautiful flower
is ugly and dead
all because of your lack of love
