The Time Turner

Chapter 1

"Hey Evans!" James shouted after the red headed girl.

Lily froze. She shoved the time tuner under her jumper, and turned around. "What do you want Potter?" She glared at the boy, and his two friends behind him.

"What I can't just say 'Hi' to a friend?" James asked the girl.

"Sure you can, only problem is we aren't friends"

Sirius chuckled. "She's got you there Prongs"

"Shut it Padfoot" James shoved his friends shoulder.

"I'm not getting any younger here, what do you want?" Lily asked again, her hand now on her hip.

"Where are you going out so late?" Sirius asked. "Only thing in this direction is the forbidden forest"

"Now little miss goody-goody wouldn't be sneaking out after curfew to the forbidden forest, now would she?" James smirked at the green eyed girl.

"What's it to you anyway?" Lily asked, upset that she had been caught.

"We thought we should accompany you" Sirius started.

"The forbidden forest is quite the dangerous place, for a Lilly-flower like yourself, you know?" James finished.

"I'm perfectly capable of taking care of myself" Lilly scoffed, and rolled her eyes  "Now if you don't mind I have to pick some ingredients for a potion" She lied, turning around and heading toward the forbidden forest.

When Lily didn't hear any objection, she sighed in relief. Thinking that by some miracle, the boys had actually listened, she pulled the time turner out, and placed it around her neck.

She had been doing this since her fourth year. Rewinding time so she can take extra classes, just as Hermione had in her time.

Just as she was about to spin the time turner, and go back in time, James caught up to her, the other two not so far behind. "What's that around you neck?" He asked, making Lily almost jump out of her skin.

"It's a necklace of course, Prongs! Why else have it around her neck?" Sirius asked his friend also startling Lily, just not as much as James had.

"Well it's an odd necklace" James thought out loud. "Let me see it!" He said excitedly, reaching over to the object that hung around Lily's neck.

Lily however, slapped away James' hand. "No!" She shouted. "Don't touch what isn't yours Potter. What are you even doing here?" She asked in irritation.

"We told you, the forest is a dangerous place" Sirius answered for the three.

"And I told you, I could very well take care of myself!" The girl huffed.

"I have to agree with James, and Sirius on this one" Remus spoke up. "It is quite dangerous, especially since it's so dark out."

Lily rolled her eyes, she was flattered that they cared, but annoyed that they wouldn't listen. "Fine, I'll wait til day light tomorrow" She turned around, and headed back towards the castle. She was hoping once they parted ways in the common room, she can just come back out here.

"Lily..." Remus started hesitantly. "That necklace..." He knew full well what that necklace was, but knew it probably wasn't safe to say in front of James and Sirius. "It looks lovely" He decided to say.

Lily nodded greatfully at him. She figured, that if anybody out of the Marauders would know what it was, it would be him. "If you wouldn't mind Remus, I would like to talk to you about our Ancient Runes homework tomorrow"
