This was it. Moving day. So many people in my hometown who I loved and trusted had turned their backs on me. I thought they would support me no matter what, apparently I was wrong. I was moving to a different entire state, leaving everything behind, my loved ones, my memories, my hometown. This was a big step and to be honest I was terrified. I made the decision to move with my boyfriend and his family about 2 months prior. My family didn't like it but I didn't care because I knew that I needed this, I wanted this and as much as I wanted their support I wasn't going to beg for it. My name is Santana Dinerez and this is my story....
We had spent the last month packing and the day was finally here, the removalists had come and gone already and we were on our way to our new home. It was a long drive ahead of us so we stopped about halfway and stayed with my boyfriend's eldest brother. We stayed there for a night sleeping on the floor then early in the morning left to hit the road for another 6 hours. I was asleep for most of it so it felt like nothing to me.
Finally, we had arrived at our new place, it was a lot smaller and cosier than our last place but it was home, for now atleast. We had a relaxing rest of the day after that as the removalists weren't coming until early the next morning which meant that we would be sleeping on the ground, yippy! We all had an early night that night and the next thing we knew it was already morning.
The removalists got here at about 7:30 and were finished by 8:30 which was really good considering how much shit we had... once they left it was time to get unpacking. However, we knew from the start that not all of our stuff was going to fit in this small house. We started out with the bathrooms and toiletries, and worked our way through the house to unpacking stuff for our bedrooms. My boyfriend and I shared a room. Which to most people automatically made me a slut, I wasn't though and I don't think I'll ever understand how this generation thinks, honestly. It's not like it was my choice to move in with them originally, I had nowhere else to go....
