The boy stood in front of her, gazing into her pale blue eyes, and though it seemed to him as if it were forever, it was only a second before she blushed and her eyes fell to the crust of the Earth. I believe the moon knows what it's like to be human, uncertain, and created by imperfections. You know how the moon only glows because it's reflecting off the sun? Well, that was her with him; she only shined because he was her sun. She only shined because he was always there. To him, she was more like the moon than the stars, even though she was, unfortunately, ready to become one of the stars, much like the moon, part of her was always hidden. He knew. He wanted to see the side of her that she said no one knew about. But little did he know, that whenever they were alone, she was already showing him her true colors. Her face was barely visible, not only because it was night, but because her hair fell on her face. It made a curtain in which she didn't have to look through and he couldn't see her crying. She felt secure, safe, like she wasn't being judged this way. She just wanted to be happy again. The full moon illuminated them just enough for the human eyesight. Her blonde hair, that was turning brown near her scalp, blew in the wind, and for the quick second he made eye contact with her, he spoke.
"I'm in love with you," He said quietly, his head falling. And almost magically, it began to rain. I'm not talking normal rain; this rain was heavy and sudden. Thunder shook the sky above their mindless brains and the rain washed away all the pain of their snow like hearts, beautiful, but cold. She was shocked. She loved him too, she couldn't deny it, she had loved him for a long time, but their love was avoidable. No matter how much it hurt her to keep the feelings trapped inside of her, she had too. It was unexplainable why she did it. Maybe it was for the sake of their friendship, or maybe, just maybe, she waited so one day there could be a forever. She couldn't even explain it to herself. His heart was made of gold, he never really pulled the strings at it because of his insecurities. She slowly smiled then walked closer to him, her tears were mixed with the rain, she didn't even know if she was really crying anymore, but water rushed down her face. She grabbed his jawline, and put her forehead on his, they were close enough to hear each other's short and fading breaths. "I love you too,"
He couldn't help it. He grabbed her waist and brought it closer to his own, and with the one little sentence, he knew who he had been waiting for, the person he would take a bullet for, no, even more than that. He would completely die for her. Live for her. This was his soulmate. His lips met hers within seconds. It was as if their lips fit perfectly together, and as she reached to grab his hands, she realized that their fingers naturally entwined together as well. He broke the kiss first and looked into her eyes.
"I'm sorry, but I don't care if we hurt people by being together, or if we offend them. But, I love you... And we both deserve the happiness. I can't stand not being able to call you mine, you're the person I've always waited for, my life may leave my lungs, but my heart will stay with you," He held her head and kissed her wet forehead. She tried keeping her eyes open, but she was certain she was crying, her vision was blurry because of the tears and her cheeks were swollen and puffy. Some people are like nicotine, you know they aren't good for you, but you want them anyway.
"I can be yours," She almost collapsed but he caught her. "And you're mine, mine... but I'm just so af-" He cut her off with his own sentence that he's said many times before.
"Don't worry, I'll never hurt you, I promise." He tilted his head and moved the hair out of her face, then before he even leaned in, her lips were already against his. She knew they were young... and sometimes forever, isn't always forever. But she loved him, and she was willing to take the chance...Even if it went against everything she had ever told herself, for him, she would do anything.
"Maybe the wolf is in love with the moon, and each month it cries for a love it will never touch."
