One afternoon after a concert ruby and Demi are in the back of Demi's limo. “Do you have any plans later?”, ruby asks sweetly. “Not really, I'll probably just sit around and watch movies.” Ruby smiles and says “well I was thinking maybe we could hang out, I could make you dinner.” “That sounds nice,I really don't want to have to be alone.” Demi says. “OK well I would like to make one stop then we can be on our way.” Ruby says with a smirk. The car stops and ruby leans over and kisses Demi on the forehead and says “I'll be right back.” then she gets out of the car and goes into the coffee shop.

Demi's P.O.V

Ruby is always so sweet to me. We are always together and she makes sure that I'm safe and she makes me feel safe I know it's just her job as my bodyguard, but here lately it feels like there is more to her actions. She will hold my hand when she senses that I'm nervous,she has always kissed my cheek or forehead but it's been more passionate. I'll have to ask her about that. But here is the deal with that.  I am madly in love with her and what if she doesn't feel the same way. What if she's just being nice when she does the things she does for me? I have severe anxiety and I'm bipolar. I have to take medication to help keep me stable and she always makes sure I have enough medication and that I take them when I'm supposed to. She's such a sweetheart and the best bodyguard I could ever ask for. it takes a lot of self control to stop myself from kissing her when she gets too close. Just thinking about it gives me chills down my spine. Suddenly the car door opens, and ruby gets it the car I totally forgot that she was gone.  I was caught up in my thoughts. “Here you go” she says as she hands me a cup of coffee. “ Oh thank you so much.” She giggles and says “taste it before you thank me, they could have gotten it wrong.” I give her a sideways glance and take a sip. It's perfect. “how did you know how I like my coffee?” I ask and she just smiles the smile that is just for me and says “ a good girlfriend I-I mean bodyguard always pays attention.”She stutters, As a deep red blush creeps onto her face. I just pretend to ignore that last part. It was clearly a mistake no way she would want to be with someone like me.

 

ruby's P.O.V 

Did I really just say that, fuck I'm an idiot. I hope she didn't catch that. Man I'm such a coward I need to woman up. I am in love with her and I can't even admit it. Oh shit I forgot I also got her some flowers. I smile widely and I'm sure I'm still blushing like the idiot I am.  Then I look over and see that she is checking her Facebook on her phone. I tap her foot with mine and when she looks up I hand her the flowers and say “ these are also for you.” She smiles and it's the kind of smile that meets her eyes. “ Thank you so much they are beautiful.” She says while she smells them. I'm feeling brave and I grin and say “Not as beautiful as you are but I think they'll do.” Somehow  we are really close and I decided to just go for it and I lean in to kiss her and she leans in and closes her eyes and as soon as our lips are about to touch her phone goes off and she sighs before answering it. I put in my headphones and turn around to give her privacy. I don't need to know who she's on the phone with. I always do that. I want her to know that she has privacy. She looked angry when she answered. Maybe she was looking forward to actually kissing me. Maybe we can try again later. 

Demi'S P.O.V

We were about to kiss! I hope whoever is on the other line has a really good insurance plan because I am pissed.  That was probably my only chance to kiss her and it was ruined. “Hello” I say rudely as I answered the phone. “Hey Demi how's  it going it's Nick, I was wondering if you want to come to the studio and record tonight. Is he fucking kidding me right now? “No I told you at least six times I do not ever want to work with you again.” I tell him then hang up.  I am super pissed off now. I look over to ruby and try to calm down. She has her back to me and her headphones in. She always does that when I take a call she is truly amazing she doesn't have to but she always makes sure I have privacy. She either does that or if we are parked she will get out of the car and wait by the back of it until I signal that I'm done. I think it's cute. I really want to kiss her, I can't believe that we came so close and that asshole interrupted us.

 

ruby's P.O.V 

We pull into the parking garage of Demi's apartment and I've been thinking about our almost kiss and I think I want to tell her how I feel about her. I'm really nervous though so maybe I should wait ugh I don't know what I should do. We get to her apartment and She  invited me in.

 

Normal P.O.V 

Ruby and Demi get into the apartment and ruby heads straight to the kitchen and starts to cook dinner.  Demi goes into the living room to her movie shelf and looks for something good to watch. She finds warm bodies  and gets it all set up and ready to watch. Ten minutes later ruby comes in the living room with two plates of food a couple glasses of water and sets it all down on the coffee table. “So what movie are we going to watch?” Ruby asks “warm bodies is that alright?” Demi asks.  “ Never seen it.” Ruby says and she sits next to Demi on the couch and puts her arm around her. Demi pushes play and they begin the movie.

~Demi's P.O.V~

I start the movie and realized that ruby has her arm around me. Also something she does a lot but I like it so no complaints from me. I lean my head on her shoulder and look up to see her smiling down at me, she smiles wider if that's even possible and kisses my temple.  then she turns back to watch the movie. Man I love this woman. I'm starting to mentally freak out and then I feel her starting to get up. And I look up and panic because she looks so adorable and nervous for some reason. I can't do this right now I can't keep getting close to her and then have her tell me that she isn't into me that way it would kill me. 

~ruby's P.O.V ~

The movie is finished and I look at my phone and realize that it's getting late and I have to go home and feed my animals. I've been gone longer than usual today. I look at Demi and she looks deep in thought. That reminds me about the almost kiss and I finally decided why not come clean. 

~Normal P.O.V ~

 Ruby thought that this was finally her chance to get the women of her dreams. She thought that maybe she would be able to confess how she feels to Demi.ruby nervously began, “So, I've been meaning to tell you something.” Demi cut her off,”I think you should leave and  find a different job”. Demi realizes that her feelings for ruby are really strong and she is terrified that ruby doesn't share the same feelings. "Did I do something wrong? Has something happened?" Demi sighed, “No of course you haven't done anything wrong. I just think I'm going to take a break from touring and focus on writing more for a while and it's not fair to you to just sit around while I figure out what I want to do." "Demi   says as she looks down ashamed that she isn't brave enough to admit her feelings." so you are firing me?" Demi can't say anything she just nods.

Ruby is shocked  but she decides to just let it be and respect Demi's decision.
