Lance POV:

It was finally over.

The war was over.

We were alive!

Badly injured but still breathing. I tried to open my eyes, it was a struggle since it feels like a hundred knives poking at it.

The last thing I remembered was Voltron forming a super cannon and blasted everything within its radar of about two kilometers, killing everything.

And then I blacked out.

"Ugh, guys? Everyone alright?" I said through the comunicator.

I heard a hazy voice that sounded like Shiro, "Y-yeah, I'm fine." Taking a deep breath, he continued, "I just hope everyone is- argh!"

"Shiro?? What's going on?" I asked with worry.

"I-I'm okay, where's the others?"

Suddenly another voice came in, "Oh my gosh... I can't believe we're alive! I-I..."

Okay, Hunk is here. Good.

There was a feminine groan and I immediately guessed it was Pidge.

"H-hey, I'm okay too... Ugh, I feel super dizzy..."

Now Keith was left. Where is he anyways?

Saying through the communicator, I called, "Hey mullet head!" I winced, that took a lot of effort to say. Probably 'cause of my injuries.

Instead of an insult, I got silence.

"K-Keith? Buddy? You alright?"

Nothing.

Panic was eating at my throat, I called to the others, "Um, guys? Has anyone noticed that Keith was silent this whole time?"

"Maybe his helmet was lost during the battle?" Hunk said, but it like more of a question.

I just hope he was right....

Checking my radar, I checked if there was any sign of the red paladin.

Then there it was, a red dot on the screen. I struggled to pull myself up-right into my seat and directed Blue to the silent paladin, hoping he was alright.

In a few minutes, I saw a glimpse of red and white! I rushed Blue to Red's side and landed.

I limped my way out of my lion and headed to check out what was going on.

I heard the others nearby in their respective lions as I turned a corner and saw a scene that I could never forget ever.

Keith, who wasn't moving, lying on his front on the floor in a pool of blood.

'OHHHHH NO NO NO NO NO NO NO PLEASE NO!!' I thought to myself as I staggered towards him as fast as I could.

Every part of my body aches for rest, but I couldn't do that now. Not when the love of my life is lying on the floor, bleeding profusely!

Finally reaching him, I pain stakingly turned him over. Before I even knew it, tears welled up in my eyes and freely dropped to the cold, hard ground.

There he laid, a knife in his chest.

A Galran blade.

Blood was everywhere, dried.

We were too late...

I was too late...

Not even the healing pod could bring him back.

I pulled Keith up to my chest so I could hug him for the last time. I didn't even get the chance to tell him how I felt about him ever since I met him! Hot tears were falling onto his back and sliding to the ground. The others, with Allura and Coran at their heels, came running as fast as their injuries let them and gasped when they saw the situation.

Pidge and Allura had their hands onto their mouths while the rest looked their trying not to let their tears fall.

Not being able to hold back any longer, I let my sobs and wails of anguish be heard to the world, holding Keith tighter than ever.

"YOU PROMISED TO STAY BY MY SIDE! YOU SAID YOU'D NEVER LEAVE AND WE WOULD ALWAYS BE TOGETHER! IF SO? WHY ARE YOU...." not daring to finish my sentence. If I did, I'd just break down more. Even if I was already broken inside. The rest of the time was us mourning silently, except for the sounds of sobbing and whispers of prayers.

Shiro, breaking the silence, said, "I-I think we should head back to the castle, w-we can go to another planet and...." leaving the rest un-said, knowing we'd understand.

But I wish I didn't! I don't want to believe that the guy I fell in love with is lying in my arms, dead.

Sadly, reality is like a truck. Ramming into me whenever I want to dream forever. I couldn't possibly stay in my spot forever, even if I wanted to.

Tears still trailing down my cheeks and onto the ground, I slowly set down my deceased beloved and got up giddily.

The pain of sitting in one spot for too long came crashing down on me along with my other injuries I got from the battle.

Not daring to look back, I heard Hunk's heavy foot steps carry Keith as I head back to Blue.

The Red lion seemed to be even more upset than I was. On its own, it flew up into the air and headed back towards the castle ship, as if it had listened to Shiro's instruction.

Getting Blue ready, I made my way back to the place I could call my home.
