the moment we open our eyes after being born is the confirmation that we are already in this cruel world and that we have no choice but to accept it. well, the world can't get any crueler for me.
"i'll be out for tonight, do an extra hour or two" my boss grabbed his things and went out of the shop. today was sunday and he usually goes out every sunday and wednesday.
i sighed and continued cleaning the counter top. only me and my boss work here, so now i have to work 10 times more and an extra hour. i am studying college but i needed to support myself thats why i started doing jobs to pay for my tuition fee.
my father left us at the age of 10 and my mother died shortly after that because of depression. i have no one else to rely on but myself.
the door bell rang telling me that there was another customer to serve.
"hey yoongs!" namjoon greeted me with a smile
"joon!" i grinned at him
"2 of the usual please." he handed me the bills and i raised my eyebrow at him
"did you bring company?" i asked him
"no. get out of there and join me." he grinned at me and i laughed a little
"i can't. my boss isn't here, there's no one that would do the work." i told him
"then i'll help you after we finish our coffee. i'm free for today, plus you really look tired, you should go rest." he said. i know that there's no point in trying to argue with him so i just nodded and went inside to prepare the coffee.
after making sure the coffee was prepared the way he liked, i went out and saw him seating near the window. good thing this coffee shop wasn't that well-known so it doesn't really have many customers.
"so why are you here at this time of the day?" i asked him. it was currently 2pm and customers usually dont go for coffee at this hour.
"well, i actually had nothing to do so i decided to take a walk." joon thoughtfully said
"walk at 2pm? who would even do that?" i asked while joon tried explaining it was out of boredom
"anyway, so when i was walking, i thought of getting coffee." he said
"really joon? coffee at this hour?" i snickered and he just glared at me
"so as i was saying, i thought about getting coffee and went here. then i saw you working alone so decided that i could be of help" he finished and i smiled at him
"thank you joon, you dont have to. i've got this" i reassured him but he refused. of course this stubborn one won't listen.
"no! you need to focus on studying more hyung! i sent jin a text so that the two of us would work for you until your shift ends. go home now and rest" he scowled at me so i just nodded and thanked him.
"just call me whenever something comes up" i told him and he muttered an okay. i grabbed my things and went home.
the walk from the shop to my apartment was short since it was only a few meters away. i unlocked my door and went straight to my room and jumped on my bed. i placed my phone on top of my nightstand and stared at the ceiling for god knows how long.
