Quick A//N: Hi! You may realize I'm republishing! (I've been editing)

He stared out the window as he inhaled the fresh mountain air. I knew he had been angry, as though something had been eating him inside out. It was through the way he had clenched the sleeve of the maroon tinged oversized sweatshirt he'd warn. Though I'd had slight concern, my glance belonged to the open highway. The yogurt sky had slowly eaten away the sun. Thus, it spat the moon. This meaning, it was at the early hours of the night. I had not needed a clock to know the word of the swift coming of dark. I exhaled a tired sigh. I had not liked this silence. However, these days left Aspen quiet. Not even the radio spoke the words I'd craved. That being normal conversation. Still, how could there any normal conversation be held? The quiet screamed his faults. I still had been stunned. No amount of time could heal that slip up. Especially to the fact it was everywhere. Anyway you could face, people had heard. Aspens red hands could not cover the mouths of those who spoke, instead they smothered his ears. Not even denial could calm him. That also being left to the fact he ran. And I, I helped. Yes, I knew that it would be better to let the thought leave my mind. It was constant how I'd rethink the whole happenings.
I was both relieved and shocked when he uttered word of any sort.
"Why are you even fucking helping me, Clayton?"
Aspen hissed in a low tone. I looked over, his eyes had not been on me. But, still out of the open window. That window of the passenger seat was the only thing he could bare to look at.
"What do you mean? I'm your cousin, we need to stick together."
I grunted in reply as I had shifted in my seat in a slight motion, uneasy and confused.
"You know what the hell I mean. You're not even my real cousin,"
He shot back in an antagonized growl. It had been true, the both of us had not been related by blood. Still, his words had a small sting.
"That doesn't mean shit, dumbass. Sorry for trying to help."
I, now bitter in the conversation as well. Usually, he'd been more composed. I had not an idea why I would have thought him how he was. Ever since that night, Aspen had not been the same.
"Help?! You think this is help? You said it yourself; I need to be thrown in a damn looney bin!"
He cried, heaving oxygen into his lungs as his chestnut coloured hair fell into his face. The strands of brown shrouded those puppy dog eyes with dark circules beneath.
"But I didn't mean it...."
I mumbled in response, I had not an idea that a slight joking statement had effected him. I could have only wished I would have regurgitated those words and withheld them in my mouth, swallowing them up.
"It doesn't matter if you meant it."
With those words, he had leaned back in the chair. His knees bent against the glove compartment of the passenger seat.
"Are you alright?"
I wondered quickly. I could not understand why he had been this way. Still, I did. It been selfish of myself to think he could revert.
"I'm okay. Just.... Drive,"
