And To Our Own Way! (Prologue)

Author's note: This is also an AU. It will have some of my OCs and such. This series has early S&M anime in mind (Originally around episode 19 this was made, but then edited around the release time of episode 24(?)). Will be updated to try and go with the canon.

But I guess you want the story after all that? *Sigh* Fine.
After Ash got home, he spent the next few weeks after to rest. But he also introduced the new friends he made in Kalos to all of his other Pokemon. Why don't I tell you the whole story from the beginning?

It's a bright and sunny day in the Kanto region's own Pallet town. Ash Ketchum, and his Cousin, Asher Raywood Ketchum, were playing around with Ash's Pokemon. Asher is Ash's younger cousin. He's 10-years-old, with Ash being 14.

(1st Person POV)

Ash was leaning against the fence of Professor Oak's lab, watching over his cousin. Who was playing around with Ash's smaller Pokemon.

I watch as Ash sighs, staring at his cousin calmly, smiling. He turns his head to look at the Pokemon he caught in Kalos, he stared at them in nostalgia. The wind flowing through his hair, eyes twinkling.

Man, after he returned from Kalos. He seems to have matured, a lot actually. Well, then again. We are both 2 years away from being 16, and around then we'll be pressured to deciding our future. He's probably met many people who have enriched his life during his journeys, then again so have I. It's amazing as to how mature he's gotten, but also somewhat strange. I never expected Ashy Boy to actually mature.
I sigh, as I run my hands through my hair. I can't believe that the once reckless, battle loving boy I once knew has matured into a strategical calm person. With the passion for battle and recklessness still lingering. He does have to leave a good example for Asher, but he's not going to be perfect for him.

But, what are his plans now? Is he going to find a new region to travel and challenge the League there? Or is he finally gonna purse a new dream?
"Hey Gary," I jump, and turn around to see Tracey. Oh, I forgot, he works here. "Oh! Sorry for scarring you! But can you go ask Ash more about what he witnessed in Kalos? The media is still doing reports on that Legendary Pokemon, and that strange Greninja Ash had in the League. They won't leave us alone till he tells them or us more."
I nodded, "Sure."

I walk away from my spot to the raven haired boy. He lets out a sigh, smiling as his Pokemon and Cousin play with each other.
"So Ashy boy, what you going to do now?" I asked, both of my hands in my pockets.
"Huh? Oh. Hey Gary." Ash stated, as he turned to me, "I honestly don't.. know. I guess I'll stay here for a while and figure things out."
I raise an eyebrow. So he doesn't have a single clue what to do, typical. "Well then, if you're gonna be here a while. Then I might as well take notes on what you saw."
Now it was his turn to raise an eyebrow, "What I saw?"
"Well yeah. What you saw back in Kalos. With that legendary Pokemon. That strange Greninja-" I pause, something in his eyes changed when I mentioned the Greninja. Like a spark or a flicker of a flame. I blink, before I stutter something out.
"Alright, I'll tell you about the Legendary. C'mon, let's go back to the lab." Ash stated, as he started to walk away leaving me in the dust. Wait, what about his cousin!?
"Wait!" Ash stopped, and turned back to me, "But what about your Cousin?" Ash took a glance at his cousin and Pokemon.
"They'll be fine." Ash said, before he turned his attention back to his Pokemon. "HEY! Ray! I'm going back to the lab with Gary! If you need anything come get me!"
Asher, or Ray/Raywood he was occasionally called, turned to his cousin, "Alright Cuz!"
"Pikachu! Make sure he or the others don't start trouble!" Ash yelled to his Pikachu, who nodded.
Ash turned back to me, "Let's go." I nod, as I tailed him back to the lab.
