*Skyler's POV*
"I'll call you as soon as I get there, okay?" I inform my parents as I place my last remaining bag in the trunk of my white Bugatti. "Okay baby. I'm so proud of you. Be safe."
My mom speaks, a tear escaping as I pull her into a hug, wrapping my arms around her small frame.
"I'll be okay mom. I'll come and visit whenever I can. I promise." I reassure her, her grip slowly releasing. "You better not forget about me." Owen says from behind my mom suddenly.
Owen was ten while I was nineteen. "How could I forget my little brother?" I giggle before kneeling down and tightly embracing his small body.
I quickly focus my attention on my dad, who of which was patiently waiting to the side. "Bye dad." I say, throwing my arms around him. He rest his chin on my head for a brief moment, tightening his grip, silently telling me not to go.
"We're gonna be okay, Skye." He assured me and I nodded my head, shutting my eyes tightly to prevent any future tears.
"Sorry dad...I have to go." I say on the edge of breaking down. "Okay. Drive safe princess." I climb in the driver seat. "I will. Bye." It broke my heart to watch my family in this state.
I flash them a warm smile, waving, before watching them turn around and walk back inside; my dad turning one last time to wave goodbye.
Taking a deep breath I insert the key in the ignition and make my way to UF, University of Florida.
After eight exhausting hours of driving, I finally arrive at the University. I quickly find the nearest parking lot to one of the dorm buildings and hesitantly open the vehicle door, stepping out on the gravel.
Numerous palm trees lined the entrance; it almost seemed like a alternate Universe. I was officially saying goodbye to my childhood. I gradually make my way inside the registration office, stopping in front of a desk.
"Name?" "Skyler Payne." I reply. She stares at me through her thick framed glasses. "That's a pretty name.
You wouldn't happen to be Aubrey and Toby's daughter would you?" "I am." Immediately a broad smiles spreads across her face. "I'm Maddie. Your mom and I used to be best friends when we were teens." She informs me.
"I'm sure you and my daughter will become great friends too." I arch my eye brows in confusion. "What do you mean?"
"I guess history repeats itself." She giggles softly as she looks through a cabinet and pulls out a slip of paper. "Here's your schedule Mrs Payne and here's your key." "Thank you, Maddie." "Your very welcome. It was nice to finally meet you. I hope your mom and dad are doing good. Have a good day."
"You too." My finger lightly grazes over the three numbers carved into the key. Dorm room 105. I scan my schedule, attempting to remember each building number and teacher. Mrs. Spencer's creative writing. Building one. Mr. Darren Psych 101 Building two.
Suddenly I collide with a hard surface; the young guy immediately wraps his arms around my waist preventing me from falling.
