Chapter 6: Strike
Walang ginawa si Eunice kung hindi kulitin ako. She keeps on bugging me about what happened. I don't have time to answer her because I'm too busy handling Tracy's commands.
"Casey, pumunta ka na muna kay Katie. Aayusan ka muna niya sandali" ani ni Tracy. I nodded instantly. I looked at Eunice who's now glaring at me. She rolled her eyes as I smirked.
Umupo ako sa mini chair na inayos nila. Infront of me is a big mirror surrounded by little lights. I roam my eyes at the messy table full of makeups.
"Anong gusto mong gawin sa hair mo?" hinagod ni Katie ang buhok ko. I looked at her at the mirror and I can see how stress she is but she keeps on hiding it by wearing a smile.
"Kahit ano. Kung anong maganda sa tingin mo" I smiled sweetly. I actually don't know what I want. I don't know anything about this.
"Sige sige" she started combing my hair. I don't want to be a burden to anyone. Kung anong mas madali, sige lang ako. I know they won't suggest something that can ruin our musical play.
"Pinakulay mo ba itong buhok mo?" aniya.
Napatingin ako sa aking buhok at umiling. "Nope. Hindi ko nga alam kung saan ko nakuha yan" I laughed.
"Combination of black and brown" tinignan niya ng mas mabuti ang buhok ko. Ngumiti na lamang ako sakanya at nagkibit-balikat. It's weird alright. Both of my parents are pure Filipino, even my other relatives. I didn't even dare to dye my hair so where did I got it?
After she comb my hair, she took her curling iron and started making little waves on my hair. I watched her in the mirror. She puts the finished part on my left shoulder. I wonder if I can also do these by myself? I want to learn. I want to improve my physical appearance.
Halos 15 minutes niya akong kinulot. When she finished curling my hair, she did the final touches. She ran her fingers through my hair, splitting every curls. She's trying to make it look natural. After that she picked up her hair spray and started spraying.
When it is already done, I looked at my hair. I never thought that it would look like this. I looked at Katie who's now staring at me. I gave her a smile. She smiled back. "Hindi pa tayo tapos" She gets an eyeshadow pallete. My eyes widen.
"Wag na yan! Okay na ito Katie" I don't want to apply makeup. I'm not used to these kind of things.
"Light lang. Para lang may kulay mukha mo kapag pinicturan sa camera" pagpupumilit niya. I looked at her eyes.
She's tired yet she managed to think about me.
I felt guilty.
Fine!
"Sige basta light lang hah?" I said. She nodded happily and started putting little dabs of eyeshadow on my eyelids.
"I'll apply mascara, lipstick and blush on okay? No foundation." aniya at walang sabi sabing binuksan ang blush on. Hindi na ako nakapag reklamo pa. Pinapanood ko lang ang ginagawa niya sa salamin.
"Smile, Casey" aniya. I followed her.
After applying blush on and eyeshadow, she took the lipstick and mascara. The lipstick is light pink and a little bit shiny. I'm sure it's not matte. Pagkatapos ng lahat, tinignan ko ang sarili ko sa salamin.
Katie is right. It's light yet attractive. I'm amazed how makeup can change your look. I looked at Katie who's now smiling gaily. She looks proud about what she've done and I hugged her tightly. "Thankyou" I whispered.
Tumayo ako sa aking kinauupuan at nagsimulang pumunta sa banda nila Tracy. Kasalukuyang kinukuha ang solo picture ni Syd. Ganyan din ba yung gagawin ko?
