Elijah, Rebekah and Kol were feeding on a busload of prison guards and convicts to replenish their hunger after being asleep for five years. Kol had chased a convict into the woods and we could hear his screams from the road.

Hayley and I were standing a few feet away from the Mikaelsons, saying goodbye.

"Are you sure you don't want me to come with you?" Hayley asked.

I shook my head. "No. It's too dangerous and besides, you have a pack that needs their Queen."

Hayley smiled, looking down.

"But thank you," I said and she looked at me. "For helping me save my family."

"You're welcome," Hayley replied. "I care about Elijah and Rebekah too and you're my sister, Nina. That makes us family and family helps each other."

I gave her an appreciative smile and wrapped my arms around her.

Hayley returned the embrace. "Be safe."

We pulled away. "You too."

Hayley nodded and we parted ways.

"Good lord, that one has some lungs on him," Rebekah said. "He should have been an opera singer. Might've ended better for him, actually."

Freya walked closer. "Is this absolutely necessary?"

"That depends," Rebekah told her. "Do you want us at our full strength or do you plan on rescuing Nik on your own?"

"Well, death rattles are distracting and I'm trying to break a cloaking spell," Freya replied.

"Kol!" Elijah yelled, pulling out a handkerchief to wipe the blood from his mouth. "Would you please?" We heard Kol snap his neck, ending his screams and his life. "Thank you. You were saying?"

"I can sense Klaus is still in New Orleans," Freya told us. "Most likely, somewhere underground." Kol walked closer, blood leaking down his chin. "I can't get a read on exactly where unless I'm in the city itself."

"Yeah, that's gonna be a problem," I told us. "I have contacts in New Orleans. As you can imagine the place is crawling with vampires, all of whom hate all of us. Whatever we do, we need to do it fast."

"Well, I wasn't planning on a pub crawl. I don't want stay any longer than we have to, but we need to go."

"Wait, wait, wait," Kol said. "We're not doing this today?"

Rebekah looked at her brother. "Hasn't Nik suffered enough?"

"Yes, but I've died. Twice," Kol reminded us. "I'm not about to give Marcel a shot at third. Now, I say we draw that muppet out of town. Now when he's gone . . ."

"I have been away from my daughter long enough," I told Kol. "If you're afraid . . ."

"It's called being sensible," Kol said. "Until Freya can make enough cure with her werewolf hostage, Marcel can basically chew through our bloody throats."

"Enough. We're all in danger," Elijah stood. "We free Niklaus today. Even if I have to burn that city to the ground."

Elijah walked away.

I smiled.

At long last, after all this time, I'm going to see Klaus again.
