1.it all started here

She rang the bell repeatedly as the cold rain hit her .

"Tania ! Damn it just open the door" she shouted banging on the door with all her might. Her sneakers were rain soaked and water creeped up her tights. Her umbrella didn't do much either

" tch tch, Zoe a little patience could go a long way" Tania, one of her best friends said opening the heavy wooden doors

"Say then when your drenched" Zoe said bitterly and she let her umbrella to dry on the patio .

"Where are the others ? And why'd you call me?" Zoe said as she made her way to Tania's room.

"It's not me , it's Isabel . Chris dumped her" Tania said in a monotone voice.

"Ah, you should have said that" Zoe said wiping her glasses with the ends of her skirts . Her vision was temporarily blurred and she depended on her sense of memory to lead her to Isabel's room.

When she put her specs back on she was greeted with the sight of a miserable Isabel​, and Ellis ,tania and Anita trying to calm her down .

"Told you he was a jerk" Zoe said as she removed her cardigan and kept it on Tania's bed.

"I know! I knew and even then I didn't do shit" she bellowed and threw her pillow at the wall covered with posters .

"So what do you wanna do?" asked.

"No offence , why do you even date guys like this?" Ellis asked and all Zoe wanted to do was smack her face .

That as it turned out seemed to be the worst thing to ask a heartbroken person. Isabel started crying and throwing the other pillows even harder on the wall.

The next three hours for Zoe was one of the worst in her life but she had to bear through it cause these guys were her best friends ever since elementary school.

"How about you guys stay over?" Tania asked after calming Isabel down

"Yeah , it's Friday and my mom's gonna think that I was at a party and am most probably at some guy's house" Zoe said blandly as she played with Tania's hair.

"I'll call your mom" Isabel said and before she could protest Isabel had ran down the stairs.

She waited as Tania sighed. Tania went and wrapped her hands around Ellis's waist rested her head on Ellis's shoulder and Ellis blushed a deep Scarlett . Zoe couldn't help but smile at their bromance . Ellis and Anita were on their phones, talking to the mothers most probably. Anita babbled away in an another language and raised her pitch every second or so until she cut the call with a bye.

"What are you laughing at?" Anita asked raising her eyebrows.

"The way your pitch goes higher when you speak -"

"Shut up" Anita cut her with a smirk. Anita had always complained about being the only person of colour in a suburban white town.

Eriview was the place where Zoe was born and brought up and she couldn't figure out why anyone would not like a place like this . But then again being surrounded by people who would never understand you might be hard.

"It's your mom on the phone" Isabel said handing over the phone as she walked into the room.

"Hey mum" Zoe

"Baby, do you need me to get anything there? and be back tomorrow by eight . I've got work. You know that right?"

"I'm good and I'll be there by eight . Bye. Thanks" Zoe said and cut the call as soon as she heard her mum say bye.
