D.O.K. chapter 2: More Undiscovering

Start from the beginning

Rythe gently put his arms around me as I stood there gaping at the building. “What do you think?” he asked me, his breath traveling behind my ear and down my neck. As I shivered from the feel, I ran my hands along his arms until my hands rested on top of his. To my amazement his breathing picked up speed and he held me even closer.

When I was able to speak, I answered, “It’s like nothing else I have ever seen before.” Unfortunately, my voice still came out sounding breathless.

His voice wasn’t much better than mine as he put his head on my shoulder and said, “I’m glad that you like it.”

I was absolutely amazed at the effect that we seemed to have on each other. Probably, more than that, I was amazed that I could have such an effect on him.

Untwining his arms from around me, Rythe took my hand and led me inside. The interior of the place wasn’t a disappointment.  The building had tall ceilings, arched walkways, grand fireplaces, and rich color schemes. The lighting from the ceiling to the fireplace was artfully done, casting unique shadows across the wide expanse of space.

I stood there with my mouth slightly agape in awe, and then Rythe tugged me along. There weren’t many people in the room, but the people in the room looked like portraits from other periods of time  themselves. Rythe took us to a booth and sat down across from me. However, I didn’t fail to notice some people staring at us when we had entered, but I didn’t say anything.

I set my hands upon the table, still taking in my surroundings. I looked down them startled when I felt a spark when something made contact with my hands. Its then I noticed Rythe put his hand on mine, taking only one of his hands to cover both of mine. Nervously, I looked up at him to find him almost smirking at my reaction. Then his eyes caught mine and he smiled at me.

I slightly smirked back at him as I took my hands and started fiddling with his hand. Rythe’s smile grew wider as he noticed this.

When the waiter finally arrived to our table, I barely even noticed, as I was too caught up in staring at Rythe. Rythe appeared to have the same problem as me, since he almost jumped out of his seat at the sound of a voice.

He was absolutely startled, but I couldn’t help but laugh at his actions. Rythe then shot another smile at me seemingly happy to see me laugh, glad that he was the cause.

Finally, after our laughter had ceased, we made our orders. I thought that this was rather pointless, since it was just variations of blood. But the variety of things the restaurant could do with the blood astounded me. As it were, it seemed that this place must be top-notch in order to have the succulent varieties that they offered.

They appeared to have everything from pigs blood, to a more woodland variety of blood, like deer or squirrel. They of course, had human blood, fresh from a blood bank close to here. Then the things that they did with the blood were equally appealing. The choices of seasoning far outnumbered any (VAMP) restaurant that I had ever been to.

Rythe turned to the waiter, placed his order, and then turned to me with an expectant look on his face. I sat there looking at the menu, turning it over and over again in my hands. No matter all the choices, I just couldn’t make up my mind. Rythe appeared to notice this, since he went ahead and ordered for me. I shot him a grateful smile as the waiter walked away with our menus. He smiled at me, and I couldn’t help but feel the tingles that sparked across my body.

It was really silly of me to even be feeling like this, but for some unknown reason, Rythe brought these feelings out of me. His dark hair with green peices falling messily to the side, he looked so comfortable, and I felt myself longing to be in his arms.

Again, Rythe seemed to pick up on what I was feeling. If I had enough blood in me at the moment, I would have blushed profusely at his expression. His face holding longing and desired looks, overtaking the charming cocky grin.

Then he cleared his throat before he spoke, and instructed, “Come on over here.” in a raspy tone of voice. Then, as if for emphasis, he patted the seat next to him. I raised an eyebrow at him and he merely just smirked at me in return. I couldn’t help but laugh once again at his antics. His smirk just grew until it reached a full-fledged smile. HA! I thought. I put that smile there.

Unable to resist any longer, I got up and walked over beside him, before sitting down. He then pulled me into his lap, putting his chin on my shoulder, sighing in content.

“Someone’s happy.” I voiced smirking, but there was no denying that I felt the same.

“You have no idea.” Rythe said softly next to my ear. Once again I shivered from his breath, and the tingles that followed it. I could feel in the way his muscles tensed that  I had the same effect on him.

Then our waiter came and sat the blood in front of us. We both had similar looking polished cups, except that my blood had a pink tint, while his was a deep burgundy. I immediately picked it up and took a gulp, feeling Rythe chuckle with laughter behind me. I couldn’t help it though! I was thirsty and Rythe’s effects on me were not helping in the least. The drink tasted amazing though. It was blood that tasted fruity, almost like lemonade. I felt my fangs slide out from the pleasure of the drink, as I went ahead and finished it off. I wasn’t full, but I was no longer weak, lacking for blood. Rythe was taking his time, sipping from his own, when five guys barged in, all wearing black, and all with a strange symbol on their clothing. Rythe did a spit take, as his body shook.

I looked at Rythe, wondering what could make him act like this. He simply ducked under the table and dragged me with him. Then he spoke to me, “Listen to me. We have to get out of here, or these guys will kill us. Are you strong enough to run?” I nodded. “Well then keep close behind me, and whatever happens, keep running.” I could see the fear for me in his eyes, which made me even more curious of who these guys were to have someone like Rythe running.

But I had no time to contemplate it, because seconds later Rythe grabbed my hand and said, “Now.” We broke off in inhuman speed exited through a door I hadn’t noticed before. As we exited, I could see the guy pull out an AK47 assault rifle from a space on his back. After we made it almost completely out of the door, I began to hear it being fired. Every time the rifle connected with something, it began to fizz, and then decompose what it had been lodged in. I shuddered as I ran along with Rythe.

As we ran down the alleyway along the side of the building, I heard more rounds being fired. We ran down streets, but they were keeping up with us, although they were not quite as fast as we are. Then, we came to a gate Rythe began to climb over, me following him. I made it over the top and was climbing down, when their footsteps sounded even closer. As my right foot touched the pavement, I heard one more bullet being shot, and then all I saw was black.
