Flashback
I close the top of my coffee maker and push in the bottom. I heard the pour of water and the turning of gadgets. Within seconds, the strong scent of coffee fills my nose. A small smile replace my once calm expression.
As if I could never have a moment of happiness, a loud crash echoed through the cabin. I ran towards my dad room.
"DAD" I screamed as I saw the pale figure on the floor. I helped him back in the bed. "Dad, dad, daddy" I sobbed as tears flowed down my face like a rain storm. If one more tear had fallen I wouldn't have notice my dads eyes flutter open. They held a partially closed state.
"Don't worry daddy I'm going to call the ambulance and we'll find the money and I promise you'll be okay, just stay with me" I choked.
I was about to run out of the room and find the phone but a cold, weak hand held my wrist.
"Sweetheart they can't help me" a weak voice spoke. I frowned at the weak voice that replaced a once respected voice that held pride and power. How could one day affect him? I was confused beyond compare.
"Yes they can, It's their job" I whispered.
"They can't help me. I've held on too long. It's my time" he said with a small smile.
"Held on to what" I asked
"Life" he coughed out
I turned my head . I couldn't look at him. He's all I had left. Without him, I would be alone. I felt a hand touch my cheek forcing me to stare into a dull green pair of eyes.
" you look just like your mother with my eyes"
" I know" I laughed weakly," you tell me that everyday"
He pointed towards the draw that stood next to his bed. I shakily grabbed the handle and pulled open the draw. In the draw held a box. It was a black leather box with a white trim and a white threaded wolf embroidered in the middle of it. I pulled the box and and placed it next to him. I then took a seat next to him. Looking at his weak body forced more tears to fall.
A faint click filled the quiet space as a heart melting smile played on my fathers lips.
He took out a small picture and handed it to me. In the picture stood a women with black hair and blacker eyes. Her hair feel perfectly on her shoulders and a bright smile that could have put the stars to shame displayed on her lips. A man behind her with crystal green eyes held one arm around her waist and one supporting the small child wrapped in a white blanket. He looked proud of both. He held a protective glare but a bright smile. A tear hit the photo as sobs followed.
"This was the day you came out of the hospital, a year before she died. You were so small. I was afraid to hold you, I thought I might crush you. Your mother had so much confidence that I would be a great father." He voice was now rough and force. It was so quiet.
" you are a great father. I love you"
He then pulled out a silver necklace with a diamond wolf at the end. He held it weakly in his hand.
"This necklace has been in your mothers family for years, she would have wanted you to have it"
"Dad, don't go" I cried
He sat up a little bit and wrapped the necklace around my neck. I held the small charm in my hand.
"Remember your training. They're coming for you. Don't trust anyone" the whispered
"Dad no. Who's coming for me? I love you please don't leave me"
A scream of pain or agony filled the woods, filled the house, filled the lonely girls lugs.
