"text and see if she changed her number!" devyn said in excitement. "i miss her."

"me too," morgan frowned as she began going through her contacts. "but she probably hates us now because of dysn."

"yeah, fucking dysn. fucking up one of the best friendships your sisters ever had with any of your girlfriends." devyn darted her eyes at him.

"you two are so fucking annoying." he rolled his eyes as he grabbed his cup of coffee and headed upstairs to his room.

brinley pushed her glasses up and scrunched her nose as jaxon snapped a picture of her on his phone. she burst into giggles, trying to keep the food from flying out her mouth.

"jaxon, can you stop?" brinley pleaded.

"why?" jaxon laughed. "you look cute."

brinley darted her eyes at him. he knew why she didn't want him to post that they were out together grabbing lunch.

"dysn isn't going to trip." jaxon playfully rolled his eyes. "and if he does, who fucking cares. i'll explain to him it was just a friendly get together. plus you guys dated four years ago."

"it's so weird, hearing people call him dysn." she ran her hand through her hair.

"fine, sorry. kyle." jaxon chuckled. "seeing you again really fucked him up."

brinley bit the bottom of her lip as she picked at her food. "good," she chuckled. "he kinda deserves it after breaking up with me outta nowhere."

"you girls are so petty." he shook his head. "it is good to see you though, brin."

"of course, jax." brin smiled. "how's everything? how's your music and everything going?"

jaxon couldn't help but grin as she brought up his music career. he had so much to catch her up on. as he told her about what he had in the works, brinley couldn't help but wonder if any of the songs featured kyle.

"i'm actually working on some more stuff later. you should come to the studio with me and hear some of the stuff we're working on." he suggested.

"sure," brinley smiled.

after lunch the two headed straight to the studio. brin parked her car right by jaxon's and followed him inside to a dark room with a nice soundboard. she noticed a couple people inside the room and just patiently waited for jaxon to introduce her to everyone. her eyes scanned the room until she met one specific pair of hazel/light brown orbs.

brinley took a deep breath and smiled at everyone, nervously waving to them.

"oh yeah, this is brinley." jaxon smiled. "brin, that's ryland and cole."

"hi," she faked a smile before turning to jaxon. "i'm going to be right back, i forgot something in my car."

jaxon raised his brow as he just nodded his head. brinley hurried out of there as fast as she could. she headed to her car and sat there in her passenger seat as she dug around, finding whatever she was trying to find. brinley grabbed her baggie that was full of prerolled blunts and smiled to herself as she pulled one out as well as her favorite pink lighter.

as she hopped out her car she noticed someone standing there just watching her. she leaned against the front of her car while rolling her eyes as she lit the blunt before putting it in between her lips. she took a long hit before exhaling the fumes.

"can i help you?" she asked.

"you're hanging out with jaxon now?"

"really kyle?" brinley laughed. "pretty sure i'm friends with jaxon too."

"i didn't say that," he sighed. "i was just surprised to see you walk in the studio with him."

brinley just nodded her head as kyle stood there in front of her, a couple feet away. she took another hit of the blunt and smiled to herself as she thought about kyle being jealous. because he for sure was.

she was aware of kyle's insecurities, but when they dated he was rarely ever jealous. he knew he had no reason to be, especially with how affectionate brinley was towards him. she brought out a more confident side of him. but that was back when they dated. it had been four years since then.

"you're jealous," brinley cocked her head to the side before placing the blunt back in between her lips.

"i'm not. just surprised." kyle raised his voice a little.

"last i remember, you broke up with me during senior year and then practically moved here after graduation. and when you felt alone that summer before your eighteenth birthday you were the one who called me to come visit you. and i was stupid enough to." brinley laughed.

"i know, i'm sorry for being an asshole." kyle sighed.

"four years a little too late for an apology, dysn."

it stung when his nickname left her lips. she handed the blunt to him before heading back inside. shortly kyle followed and took a seat across the room from her, making sure to keep his distance. if he knew brinley, he knew best to do so or else she would treat you as if you were invisible and if you said anything to her she'd just laugh in your face and trash talk. but then again, the whole time in the studio she was already acting as if he didn't exist.
