Chapter 14

"Tell me about your friends, Ashley."

"My friends?"

"Yes, I wanna know about them."

"Okay. There is this person, Bryan. He is my best friend. He is so understanding and handsome and humorous-"

"You like him?" I thought she liked him because when she spoke I could see the spark in her eyes. I maybe bad but I too have eyes, but that doesn't mean I'll go easy on my prey. And to torment this Bryan boy would be so much fun.

"What?? No!! I mean yes! Wait, what?" she looked shocked and confused. She took a deep breath and calmed herself down.

"Yes Bryan is my best friend and I like him, more like I adore him. But if you mean anything else it is a straight no."

"Well, okay. I just asked because I thought so. Maybe I was wrong."

"You are wrong."

"Okay, I got it!"

"Yeah, sorry."

She was so frustrating. I'm not a love expert so yeah, I make mistakes like any simple, normal person. But you don't have to rub it on my face. This girl was getting on my nerves as each second passed by. I couldn't tolerate any longer and nor could my fake smile. So I thought about ending this meeting as soon as possible. I didn't want anyone's nose broken because of me. Yes, I could seriously do that.

My macchiato was about to get over. And I was about to say that I was getting late for a thing which I would make up in my mind, but she spoke.

"That piercing looks sexy on you."

And I was going to leave. Well yeah, I too like appreciations like everyone else, and till she continues to appreciate me I could wait a little longer.

"Ah! Thank you! I was dying for you to notice it."

"I noticed it way before, how could I not? I was just admiring it."

"You were? It sounds creepy!"

"It does? Well, not as creepy as it looks. It looks more creepy." We both laughed.

The waiter arrived to take away our empty glasses and provided us with a bill. I was happy to pay and move out of there but she again argued to split the bill in two. I smilingly ignored her and paid off the money. We exited Starbucks together, hand-in-hand. Sounds so cheesy, right? Well, not hand-in-hand, actually.

We set in my car and went to school to pickup Ashley's. She got out as we arrived at the school parking lot which was empty except for a few cars and school buses. She started the engine and came side to side with my car.

"Well, it was great today. I liked it."

"It or me?" I flirted.

"Definitely you." she played along.

"What say, we meet up sometime again?"

"Are you asking me out on a date?"

"You got that right right! So will you come with me?"

"Yeah, sure. I'd love to! Message me the details."

"Sure. Bye." I said.

"Bubayee. See ya later." Saying she pulled her car out of the lot, me following, and she went towards her house.

I wasn't in a mood to go home, so I stopped at a bar. I asked for beer from the bartender and watched people dance. Their bodies mixing with each other just like the alcohol mixing in their system. A girl approached me and started dragging me to the dance floor. I finishee my beer, slammed the glass on the table and joined the sweaty bodies in dance.

I was in no mood to go to my empty house. At least here I could enjoy myself and be myself. I don't have to fake it in front of people here and I was very much in the mood to get drunk.
