53 - Game Of Survival

Start from the beginning

"To finish what I started." He responded calmly as he looked around the house. It angered me how at ease he was. He had no stress or care in the world. I took a quiet step back as he was looking around, his eyes stopped at my "throw away" pile.

"What's all this?" He asked as he crouched down to look through the stuff.

"Shit." I mumbled to myself.

"Stuff I'm throwing out." I admitted.

"But I gave you some of these things." He said as he picked up some of the items.

"I don't need them anymore." I responded, trying to remain confident and not scared.

"So, you don't need me anymore?" He asked as he took a step forward. The anger in his tone made me realise this wasn't going to remain a civil conversation.

"I-I didn't say that."

"You're implying it." He responded just as quick.

"You need to leave." I said as I took another step back.

He laughed in a sadistic tone before shaking his head, "I'm not going anywhere until I have you in a body bag." He said before he ran towards me. I quickly grabbed the fruit bowl that was right next to me and swung it, hitting him in the face. I was about to leap over his crumbled body to go to the front door but he grabbed my ankle, making me trip. I turned my body so that I was on my back before using my other leg to kick the side of his face. I knew going through the front door was not possible now so I immediately ran to the back door.

At this point I had no idea where I was going or what I was doing. I had always had a fear of this back forest and now I was right in the middle of it, running for my life.

The sounds of the trees were whistling past me as I ran full force, I didn't know where I was running but I just followed whatever path I could find while trying to control my erratic breathing. I knew running and being lost was a hell of a lot better than the alternative option that was chasing me.

"AVA!" Noah screamed in frustration as he continued to run after me. He was angry and annoyed at this stupid chase I was leading him on, I could hear it in his voice. I should know better that eventually he would catch up to me, he always did. I should know that I would never be able to escape him as long as we are both alive.

My breath quickened in my throat as I heard him yell my name from across the forest, I could tell by the sound of his voice that he wasn't that far from me, he also sounded extremely angry which worried me even more. I tried to pick up the pace as I kept running, trying to find some form of civilization. I desperately needed someone, anyone to help me. I was all alone and there was no one in sight.

I tried to anticipate the branches that were face level by maneuvering them away from my face, some managed to nip me on my cheeks and forehead. The bigger branches cut at my arms and got stuck onto my clothing but I wasn't prepared to stop because of small paper cut scratches. I was determined to escape this deadly situation I knew I was going to be in, if I got caught.

"AVA I SWEAR TO GOD!" I gasped in fear as I heard his yell, I quickly turned my head to the direction of the voice as I kept running before turning back. I stopped for a second when I saw that there were two routes to choose from. Quickly deciding to go left, I picked up my pace and ran like my life depended on it because frankly, it did.

My legs were beginning to buckle on me, I knew I was becoming exhausted from running, I couldn't even remember how long I was running for. I stopped to catch my breath and decided it was best to hide, cause less noise. Make him think that I had gone.

"I have- I have to hide" I encouraged myself in between puffs as I tried to regain my breath.

I looked around anxiously, trying to find something to use, until I saw a giant leaf discarded over a large bark. As I went to walk towards it, I felt an arm wrap around my neck and was pulled hard into a man's chest.

I let out a scream before elbowing him in the jaw with so much force, I stumbled back a bit, almost losing my balance, however successfully causing Noah to fall off his feet.

"AVA! ENOUGH!" Noah screamed out in anger but also shocked that I actually had the nerve to hit him in the jaw. It took him a few seconds to come back to reality, who knew I had such a hard hit on me? I made the biggest mistake by running past him because he used this opportunity to grab me by my leg, making me fall flat on my face.

I frantically started to kick my leg as I tried to release his grip. I rolled onto my back in an attempt to use full force but I was running out of time, Noah let out an evil snicker as he quickly dragged me towards him, slowly climbing on top of me.

"No! Let go of me!" I shrieked in fear.

"We have unfinished business to take care of Ava" Noah responded much to calm for my liking.

I looked around in a panic for something to use until my eyes landed on a rock, quickly grabbing it I swung with all the energy I had left in my body,

"YOU FUCKING BITCH!"

I watched as he grabbed the side of his face, an attempt to stop the blood from pouring down his face. I'd be lying if I said it didn't give me a sense of satisfaction seeing his blood pour down on them both.

I got up on my feet but was now limping because of the death trap grip he had previously on my ankle. This had now caused me to lose momentum but I had to keep going.

Why did I tell Jaxon to leave!? I knew I wouldn't have had to deal with this alone if I just forced Jaxon to stay. I should have listened to my gut. I chose the worst weekend to come back home. I wanted desperately to be back with my family. I didn't want to be here, I knew I was dead and there was no one to help me. I let out a sob as I thought about my last conversation with everyone I cared about, who would have thought that, that would have been the last time I saw them.

I realised I was letting my mind slip away from the danger I was currently in, I forced myself to focus but slowly realised that it was just too quiet around me. I slowed down my steps when I realised the amount of noise I was truly making.

I backed up against a tree as I tried to hold my breath in an attempt to hear his footsteps, try to anticipate where he was coming from.

The problem was, I couldn't hear anything, it was dead silent, with exception to the wind whistling past the trees and a few birds chirping, completely unaware of the dangers that really lies within this forest.

I knew I couldn't stay any longer, I pushed up from the tree and turned to run but a hand clasped around my throat, pushing me back against the tree with a thud. My eyes bulged out in fear as Noah came to view, he slowly moved closer to me, slightly bending his knees until he was nose to nose with me.

"Like I said, we have unfinished business to take care of Ava."
