Chapter 32

*The Next Morning

Josiah POV

I glanced over to see Shai was finally asleep.

I slept in her queen bed next to her at our parents house. She isn't stable to be back at her own home just yet.

She was crying all night, not to include her waking up at random times screaming. Mom and Dad would comfort her till she falls asleep and then leave. But I didn't want to leave Shai. I don't want her to feel like I'm abandoning her, neither I want her to leave out my sight.

I checked the time on my phone seeing that it was only 7 AM.

I sighed and I could feel my body weakening from the lack of sleep I've been having lately.

I tried calling Raven, but her phone went to voicemail. I left four messages so far. I know she had to seen them because there's no school today.

"What's wrong ?"

I looked over and saw Shai staring at me.

I shook my head, "Nothing, I'm okay. How you doing ?"

She shrugged.

"You want to talk about it ?", I asked.

"I guess, it'll make me feel a little better."

"What do you dream about ?"

She looked up at me with her dull eyes. They're not bright and shining anymore. They're only sad and gloomy.

"My mommy.", She gave me a small smile, "She keeps telling me how beautiful I am, but when I try to respond some guy comes up and shoots her."

I wrapped my arm over her shoulder and pulled her in a hug as she began to cry.

"I keep having nightmares of the people I killed Jo !", She cried, "And it keeps happening over and over and over again !"

"It's not going to be alright or feel or alright, I can guarantee you that. But it's going to soon get better. Just keep talking about it okay ?"

She sniffles, "Okay."

"Don't ever think you don't have anyone to talk to because I can name a list full. I got you forever sis and I love you, alright ?"

She nodded before wiping her eyes, "I love you too JoJo."

I held her tight as I listened to her cries.

"I have something else to tell you Josiah, but you have to promise not to tell anyone."

She pulled away from me and looked right into my eyes. She started to play with her hair and I knew what ever she was going to say had to be hard because she only plays in her hair when she's nervous.

I locked my pinky around hers and she took in a deep breath before exhaling.

"While being taken against my will, I was physically abused and taken advantage of by Ron and other guys."

My jaw clenched and I bawled my hands. Feeling my nails dig into my hands, my knuckles were turning white.

I fucking hate that this had to happen to her. Why her out of all people ? Shai heart was pure gold and she had this smile that could turn any ruined day around. Why would someone want to hurt a person like that ? As a brother I feel like I failed her. I was supposed to protect her and watch out for her... Even though she's older than me...but I failed.

"I know it's quite early to tell, but I'm pregnant.", She said.

My face softened and I unclenched my fists. I looked up at her and a tear streamed down her face.
