i was frantically searching for a specific flower to give to her today but i was having no luck with finding that blasted tulip.

i haven't given her a tulip in weeks and i know she loves them as equally as the others but if only i could find it.

"Good Morning Iris, isn't it a bit early to be in the garden?"

"Oh Good Morning Miss Sage. I'm just trying to find a tulip to give to her. I decided to get a head start knowing it will be hard to find in this massive garden."

"You are such a sweet boy, Iris. Always giving flowers to her. Here let me help you."

Miss Sage is the sweetest lady in this facility.

she treats everyone so nicely.

even if this is an asylum.

"Iris! I found some!"

I went over to Miss Sage and there they were.

a whole row of tulips.

she sure would love these.

"Thank you so much Miss Sage!"

"No problem, baby. Now go before she has to see Dr. Jude."

I waved at Miss Sage and jogged to her room.

she was just about to close her door until i stopped it.

"wait! um..here, i got you some tulips!"

she opened the door a little to show her face.

her dull brown eyes that shone like honey when the light reflects on them

the dark purple circles under her eyes that make them look even more tired

her pale skin that make her undereye circles to look so prominent

her pink chapped lips that formed into a small smile when her eyes landed on the tulips in my hands

she took the flowers from me, looked me in the eyes and smiled

then she closed her door for the rest of the day to be spent alone

she is my best friend, well my only friend in this god-awful place

i sit behind her door every night at 2am to tell her about my day and she would be on the other side listening, with ever so often her tapping on the door to assure me that she is there and that she is listening

if only i knew her name...

  I mean no disrespect
I am simply very perplexed by your ways
Why won't you let us use your name?
