Walking down the street I took deep breaths, in and out, in and out, calming myself down. I couldn't stop playing with my new hair, it felt so much softer, and a lot more healthy. Looking around, not many people in sight, however night was dawning, and the sky looked beautiful and bright. Arriving just around the corner from Peaches and Cream, the smell of freshly baked goods swirled around in the crisp air and gently brushed my nose. I opened the door, and it made a little bell sound as I walked through and took my usual place, a seat next to the window. It felt good to be back. I placed my head in my hands, still deeply breathing. The smell of fresh food and the whiff of whipped cream from the back, made me a lot more calm, it was like getting a freshly baked, reassuring hug. The sound of little high heels walking towards me grew louder by the step. I peeped my head up from my hands and saw a girl, around my age, wearing a checkered peach apron and a baby blue top. Her hair tied up ever so neatly in a pony tale with a cute little peach polka dot scrunchy. She smiled at me and I smiled back.
'Hi.' She said in a happy voice.
'Hello.' I said, looking up at her.
'Would you like something to drink?' She said.
'Sure, what do you recommend?' I asked politely, hoping it was something chocolatey.
'Well since it is CHC friday, how about a delicious hot chocolate?'
'What's CHC?' I asked, quite confused.
She giggled. 'It stands for creamy hot chocolate, we have them every friday's, it's our little special. Can't you tell it's our best seller?' She said looking around the empty cafe.
We both giggled together.
'Sure, I'll have your best hot chocolate.'
'Okay, coming right up.' She said whilst she turned around and walked towards the back.
Looking around I noticed somebody sitting a few tables away, I didn't even realise. He was by himself, he looked quite shy because his back was hunched and he was just staring at his hands on the table.
The polite waitress made a stop off at his table, and I could over hear her letting him know that his hot chocolate wouldn't be long now. I was wondering why he was by himself, but then I thought he'd probably be thinking that about me also. Trying to figure all these things out, he looked at me, of course I quickly looked away and buried my head back into my hands. The waitress walked back out from the back with a tray of three beautiful smelling hot chocolates and went over to boy. I didn't hear what she said but they both started walking towards my table. The waitress stood to the side of my table whilst the boy took a seat opposite me on the other side of the table.
'I thought it would be nice for you two not to be alone.' The waitress said whilst putting down our hot chocolates in front of us.
I smiled at the boy, who smiled back at me, and looked at my drink.
'How come the glass is only half full?' I asked, hoping I wouldn't offend her.
The waitress laughed under her breath, whilst I just sat in ore of this tall glass half filled with whipped cream.
