"That's ok Grant."

"I'm glad you're feeling better Ash."

"Wish we could say the same for Hayden."

"Yeah. Hopefully he'll be better by tomorrow."

"Yeah. Hate for him to miss his first Thanksgiving."

Thanksgiving? Already? But it's only Sunday?

"H-hey guys. I-I'm back."

"Hey, Zach. I've noticed your stutter has gotten better."

"Thanks, A-Ash."

"Speaking of stutters, not really but anywho I was researching..."

"As per usual."

"... I was researching the long term effects of carbon monoxide poisoning."

"W-what did it s-s-s-say?"

"It said that the person could have permanent brain damage, lung damage, or even heart damage."

"Really?"

"Yeah. As if Hayden doesn't already have a full plate."

"P-p-poor fella."

I heard someone get up then a moment later I felt a hand on my arm.

"It's going to be ok, Hayden." It was Ash. "We're all here for you."

"It's true."

"Y-yeah-ah"

I wanted to say something. A simple thanks but I couldn't.

Ash gasped.

"What?"

"He's-he's....smiling."

"What?"

"Come look!"

Footsteps then some more gasps and wows and I knows.

I tried to open my eyes. And failed. I felt someone touch my hair.

"It's going to be ok, Hayden."

"Ashley's right." He grabbed my hand.

I moved my fingers to try and grab his.

Then, I opened my eyes.

David's POV:

"Where are we going?"

"To the hospital to see Hayden."

"Is he hurt?"

"He's very hurt."

"Was it because of Dad?"

"Asa, you're very clever." We pulled up to the hospital. "He doesn't look good and he's probably not going to be awake. Can you girls behave?" The all nodded. "Ok, let's go."

"How you feeling, Hayden?"

I began to reply to her but just coughed instead.

"I w-would as-s-s-sume that's how you feel."

I let out a very weak and faint, "Smart-ass." We all laughed. "It's-s not actually Th-thanksgiving tom-m-morrow is it?"

"I'm afraid it is."

"My sisters are going to be pissed."

"You mean, these sisters?"

"David? Girls!"

"HAYDEN!!!" The sound of their voices made all the pain and all the misery go away. I saw their faces all lit up.

all scratched up.

"Girls, what happened?"

"What do you think?"

"David?"

"I didn't see it happen. Asa called your phone and I rushed to get them."

I felt tears well up in my eyes. I tried to hold them back.

"What's wrong buddie?"

"Nothing is wrong Eve. Come here." The girls came and hopped up on my bed and I just held them safe in my arms. I couldn't help but cry tears of joy that they were ok.

I looked over at David. He was still standing in the doorway. Gosh he's gorgeous.

I mouthed Thank you.

He mouthed You're welcome.
