20 2 1

His eyes scanned his surrounding as he mapped out his quickest and easiest route through the crowd onto the subway train. He did a quick count to himself before dashing off, getting the occasional curse or shove thrown in his direction. His long legs barely made their way on board before the doors closed, making the atmosphere around him more suffocating than it already was.

'First day and I'm already twenty minutes late,' he thought to himself, his thoughts being interrupted by the piercing sound of an early morning domestic argument. 'Glad I'll never have to deal with that.'

Finally the tube stopped at the subway, making the boy's curls bounce atop his head as he sped walked towards his destination. He checked his watch as he collided with a broad chest, causing him to fall back on his arse, a few burning droplets of coffee staining his dress trousers. He looked up to be greeted by soft eyes, not angry ones like he was expecting. His lips sputtered out random words he was hoping to be apologies but he couldn't wrap his mind around it all. Everything had happened so fast.

Before he could listen to the raven-haired boy's condolences he was up and dashing off to where he was meant to be. He sat in his assigned office cubicle and groaned to himself as he hopelessly rubbed the burning stain more into his once pure-white button up. Dan swore to himself and looked at his reflection in the black computer screen before him. He rolled up his sleeves and let out an exasperated sigh as he started up the machine.

"You know, around the office, it's considered rude to spill someone's coffee and not even say hello," a mocking tone teased from the entrance of Dan's cubicle. Dan jumped at the sudden voice and spun his chair around to be met with the same soft eyes from before, except they now somehow looked even softer yet happier. Dan felt his cheeks glow red as he adverted his gaze to the corner as if it was more interesting that the perfect man before him. "You must be the new guy? Well congratulations on getting into the office so fast. Our boss usually isn't that easy on the new guys."

Dan slowly moved his gaze back up, surprised to see the man so relaxed around him whenever he literally just scorched him with his own coffee. "Um I'm hoping he likes me then," he awkwardly mumbled whilst giving a timid smile. The boy with the kind eyes gave an assuring nod.

"You must've won him over in the interview with that dashing grin of yours!" He complimented, showing off a wide set of pearly whites with the best smile Dan swore he's ever seen. "Oh I'm Phillip Lester by the way, hoping you'd rather enjoy calling me Phil though." He softly chuckled, making Dan's heart melt. Dan looked down Phil's once white formal shirt to see it dowsed in black coffee. It must've still been pretty hot since Dan could still see steam emitting from the liquid.

"Um, I'm really sorry about this morning. Is there anyway I could fix this?" Dan motioned to the mess on Phil's shirt, careful not to make any awkward hand brushes. Phil looked down at the mess and fixated his gaze back on Dan.

"I think having a lunch together today would pay for the waste of caffeine I endured," Phil joked and grinned; Dan noticing his tongue poking out slightly between his teeth. Dan shyly smiled and gave a small nod before he watched Phil walk to his own cubicle which was not far away; they could see each other, which Dan appreciated.

Dan quickly faced his computer and logged in with the email and password he was given, immediately getting to work on what he had to do for the day or however long it took him to do the task. The hours seemed longer than need be, Dan's eyes drooping for what seemed like seconds were actually minutes.

Phil grinned at the sight, not wanting to let the boy be shaken from his near slumber but he really didn't want to pass up his lunch "date" he had with him.
