たけとりのおきな - The Bamboo Cutter
むかし、 みやこ の ちかく の 村(むら) に たけとりのおきな と よばれて いる おじいさん が いました。
おじいさん は まい日(にち) 山 へ いって たけ を とり、
それ で かご を あみ、 ざる を つくって くらして いました。--
Translation:
むかし、 みやこ の ちかく の 村(むら) に たけとりのおきな と よばれて いる おじいさん が いました。
mukashi, miyako no chikaku no mura ni take-tori-no-okina to yoba rete iru ojiisan ga imashita.Long ago, in a village near the capital there was an old man called "old man bamboo cutter (taketorinookina)".
おじいさん は まい日(にち) 山 へ いって たけ を とり、
ojiisan wa maibi (nichi) yama e itte take o tori,Each day the old man went to the mountain to cut bamboo and,
それ で かご を あみ、 ざる を つくって くらして いました。
sore de kago o ami, zaru o tsukutte kura shite imashita.with that made a living by weaving baskets, and making bamboo sieves.
