Prologue

"The body of a 15 year old girl, Samantha Longwood was found last night. It was found by a couple of dog walkers in an abandoned building on King Street. We managed to identify the corpse earlier this morning, it was reported around 12 last night that she was missing from a treatment centre for troubled girls a few miles from where the body was found.", Hank Voight, The sergeant in the intelligence unit explained to everyone in the unit.

"Inside job?", Antonio Dawson questioned. If the girl went missing from a treatment centre, either she was really smart to get out, or she was taken. More than likely, the second option would fit best with her being found dead.

"That's what we're thinking. However, just to be sure we're sending someone in, undercover. We need to know what's really going on behind closed doors in that treatment centre.", Voight spoke up, looking between Jay and Adam, the two younger males in the unit.

"Why not a female? Wouldn't the girls feel more comfortable talking to one of us?", Erin, one of the younger females asked, stood beside the other young female in the unit, Kim.

"Because that would look suspicious, considering we've done a background check and every single on the teachers in this centre, are male.", Voight said, looking over at Erin for a moment before his eyes bounced back to Jay Halstead.

"Halstead, how do you feel about going in undercover?", Voight asked, crossing his arms across his chest, already knowing the answer. Everyone in this unit did what was best, whether they liked it or not. This was the best option into finding out what happened to this 15 year old girl, and both him and Jay knew that.

"I'd rather go in guns blazing but I've got this.", Jay sent his sergeant a nod. He knew that this would be the only option into finding out who murdered this girl. And with that being said, he'd do anything, absolutely anything to find whoever did this and lock them up.

"Get yourself a fake profile set up, you start in 3 hours.", Voight said, glancing down at his watch seeing that It was 9 AM now, and he needed to be at the centre for 12.

"Yes Sir.", Jay nodded, heading down the stairs to the computer room, which was where they're hacking guy was." How's it going mouse?", Jay questioned as he walked into the room full of computers and empty beer bottles. Mouse and Jay go way back, back to when they were both out in the field. The army.

"I already have your profile set up. Ryan Woodburn, you was born on September the 9th 1991, your father is John Woodburn, and your mother is Jennifer Woodburn. Your past jobs include working in a high school, Kingston High School, and working in a garage, Jacobson's Garage.", Mouse began.

"Alright, let me read through it.", Jay chuckled, as all of that information just went in one ear and out the other. Jay leaned over Mouse's shoulder and read through the information. He shook his head slowly.

"What?", Mouse questioned, seeing the look of disapproval on his face.

"I don't think they need to know about my past, fake, relationships Mouse.", Jay stood fully up again, peering down on the small, lanky man. Jay was more built, he was tall, bright blue/green eyes, plumped lips, cute freckles, rough sandy blonde hair, more or less something you'd see out of a movie.

"You never know dude.", Mouse reported back, looking up at Jay, serious.

"Detective Halstead?", A female voice shot out from behind Jay, and Jay turned around seeing Erin, a smirk came over his lips before walking over to her.

"Is everything alright Detective Lindsay?", Jay looked down at her, licking his lips as he looked down into her hazel eyes.

"Alright you guys, I'm still here, child is in the room!", Mouse reported, glancing over his shoulder at the two of them who were now looking at him with a glare, he nodded slowly and turned his back back to them, rubbing his neck, shutting up.
