Prologue

Run.

My feet bounced against the forest turf, snapping the fallen branches hidden on the ground. My heart pounded in my ears, slowly getting louder. I panted wildly, my arms flailing around me as if I could simply just "fly" away.

Why me? I thought to myself. I'm normal, why me?

I struggled to run until I lost my breath. Stopping, I spun my head around, looking for a way out of the woods. Before I realized it, everything became silent. The wind died down and made no sound, which caused me to panic. It was as if the world stood still. It gave me the chills. I heard no monstrous growls or the sound of crackling leaves under feet. Is he gone?

Suddenly, a screech broke out of the silence: a howl. I glanced up at the pale moon, so bright I thought I could see my reflection in it, like a mirror. I let out a sigh and relaxed my tense muscles. He must've given up on chasing me, I reassured myself, for now. Slowly sitting on the ground, I stretched out my arms and legs. My eyes focused on the small item in my hand. Almost forgot about that.

The bottle shined between my fingers. It was the elixir given to me by that old woman at the shop. Man, was I dumb enough to take it...
