CHAPTER 2

Oh. My. God. Kol Mikaelson, the original and the most obnoxious of them. And he was going to school. I was extremely surprised. I would've thought he thought himself above this, but obviously not. He had a very annoying smirk on his face, and all the other girls in the class started giggling and whispering. I just rolled my eyes. I mean, he's rather hot, but not my type. Vampires don't make good boyfriends.

"Kol, you may sit next to Bethany, at the back. I'm sure she'll be delighted to help you with your work."

I groaned quite loudly. All the girls looked at me like I was crazy and Kol just looked surprised. He made his way to the back and sat down next to me, not bothering to get out his stuff. He just sat there 'smiling' at some girl in the next row. I rolled my eyes again and tried to concentrate on teacher. Kol threw a note at the girl he was smiling at, and as she read it, she giggled and gave Kol a nod, then turned back to the front so as not to get in trouble. Sadly, Kol then turned his attention to me.

"Hey, Bethany, isn't it?"

I nodded, still looking at the front of the class. It didn't seem to deter him.

"So, what is a treble clef?"

I turned to him.

"Why bother even trying in class when you can just compel yourself the marks?" I said, rather too loudly, as Ms. Carson noticed.

"Bethany? Is there something you would like to share with the class?"

Surprisingly, Kol spoke up.

"Beth here was just telling me what we did last lesson."

Ms. Carson nodded and then continued explaining the performances today.

"Since when did I give you permission to call me Beth?" I asked him rather bitterly.

"Um, I just saved your skin there, and your telling me I can't call you Beth?" He looked thoughtful for a moment, "And how do you know I'm a vampire?"

"One, Yes, I am telling you that you can't call me Beth, that is exclusive to close friends of mine. Two, It's not everyday an original walks into your music class. And, three, Shut up, I'm trying to concentrate."

He looked stunned that I talked to him like that. Some people swear I had a death wish sometimes.

"Well, Class, that is all I need to explain, so I think we should start with your performance's now. Arabella? Would you like to go first?"

The girl Kol was talking to earlier walked up to the front of the class and got in position.

"I am going to sing 'California Gurls' by Katy Perry." She smiled around at the class.

She started singing. I zoned out after about the first few notes. So out of tune. Most of the class seemed rather disinterested in her performance. After she had finished, there was scattered applause. It went on like this until, just before bell, Ms. Carson said;

"Bethany! Lucky last!"

I headed up to the front and positioned myself at the piano. I started with the chords, concentrating on my music.
