We Need to Talk

K.C knocked gently on the door, waiting a moment before she saw him peek his head out. "Can we talk?" She bit her lip nervously, a move that instantly made Roman melt. "Uh, yeah. Jo's asleep so let's step outside." He spoke low, letting her in with his hand on the small of her back and leading her out onto the balcony. "Look, I know you probably don't even care to talk to me anymore but, I'm sorry. I'm sorry for the way I acted with Charlotte, and the way I handled the whole situation earlier. I let shit get to me and I shouldn't have." She turned to leave when she felt him grab her arm and turn her back around. "Don't be sorry for shit. You stood up for yourself with Charlotte. That's something I've been waiting years to see." He paused and shook his head, "You threw me off earlier, I needed a bit to take in everything. You protected Jo, that's all I seen baby.  Jo told me everything as soon as I walked in, then all she wanted to know was where you were and if you were okay." K.C smiled a little. "I'm really glad she likes me, but I'm seriously the last roll model she should have." Roman scoffed. "Why? Because you don't prance around here half dressed with 10 pounds of make up on like you're God's gift to man? You don't play a character every week? You're real K, you're honest with her, you treat her like a person instead of a kid. I can't tell you the change I've seen in her since she's been around you. You've made her do better. You're the best thing to happen to both of us." K.C shook her head, "Until y'all see the me that can't sleep, or wakes up with nightmares, or shuts myself away from everyone for weeks. How I'm always paranoid in a crowd. I have times I don't even talk to Jason or Randy. I don't eat, I don't sleep, that's how I was when I first got back." Roman shrugged, "Okay, we can deal with that when it comes. You ain't gonna scare me off princess.  I don't just want you, I need you." She looked at him with tears in her eyes and he knew that it was more than anything she just said. "I can't give you want you're gonna want eventually Ro. I wont be able to give Jo a little brother or sister. I can't give you the son you're gonna eventually want." His heart broke for her as he pulled her into him, he wanted to cry with her. "I don't even know what to say. I'm sorry baby." K.C shrugged, "What is there to say? When I found out, thats when I really threw myself into the military. What's the point in gettin married if someones just gunna eventually leave me anyway?" Roman's brows furrowed together. "Because a real man wouldn't leave because of something like that K.C. A real man sticks by his woman no matter what. While, I have thought about it, more kids and shit is honestly the last thing on my mind baby, I just want you and Jo." K.C gave him a small smile, "Yeah, we need to focus on getting Jo and her brothers safe." He leaned in and placed his large hand on her cheek, rubbing his thumb across gently. "And makin sure you come back. I can't do all of this without you." It was getting closer to her leaving and it was honestly making him nervous. She had only been here a short while and fought more for his career than anyone in his family did. Of course, his dad and Vince felt they were doing the right thing, but he knew they were slowly burying him. K.C showed up with a shovel right on time. "You're gunna be fine while I'm gone, Ro. We can still talk everyday. This is your career, your life, your livlihood. Don't be afraid to stand up if you dont like something. You, Dean, Seth and the Usos need to stick together, whether the Shield is together or not. The bigger and tighter your group backstage is, the more of a chance you have. Get it?" He nodded. He knew to listen and take her advise, she had literally grown up in the middle of the Kliq and BSK forming, she seen what certain groups could do to someones career. He smiled and leaned in to kiss her slowly, pulling her into him as he felt her melt into his arms. "It'll all work out, dont worry." She kissed him again after she spoke, feeling him relax as they watched the city below them in silence.
