CHOOSE!?

"I-I.." Y/N stuttered. "I'm not one to dance.."

Lafayette smiled.
"That is okay, ma cherie, another time, then."

Laurens sighed, Alexander, unnoticed, was stiff.

"How about any of you boys?" Y/N joked. "Why don't you guys dance with each other?"

Laurens and Alexander got the joke. Alexander bowed as Laurens attempted a curtsy.

They tried to dance, but instead kept stepping on each other's feet and almost crashing into Y/N and Lafayette.

"Marquis, why don't you cut in?" Y/N laughed.

"Oui, why don't I?" Lafayette smiled, chuckling. "May I cut in?" he asked the pair.

Laurens backed up and stood next to Y/N. "How long have you known Hamilton?" he asked.

"Alexander? Oh, I only met him at the town square today. Angelica and Peggy and I went with my father. He sat down next to me and we started talking." she chuckled.

"Oh, I see." Laurens smiled. "That's good to know."

"Why?" she asked.

"Why?" he repeated, confused.

"Why ask--!" Y/N was interrupted as Laurens cut in, replacing Alexander, dancing with Lafayette.

"Hi." Alexander nodded.

"Hello." Y/N smiled sweetly.

Oh, Lord, she's adorable. Alexander thought.

"I was wondering.." he said.

"Yes?" Y/N replied.

"Do you like the town?" he asked.

"Oh, well, despite the crowds, I particularly find it beautiful at night, with the stars overhead. Anywhere in town is probably beautiful when it's at night, even the worst places." Y/N smiled, looking at the chandelier far in the middle of the ballroom. The chandelier was like a bright, beautiful star.

"Astronomy, ain't it?" Mulligans grinned, finally out of his talk with the lady completely.

"Yes." Y/N replied.

"Mulligans comes back to earth." Alexander joked.

"Yeah, yeah. Whatever. Rosalina didn't care anymore. She went to talk with some rich guys. Snobs. I hate those rich people." Mulligans insulted.

Y/N winced.

"Mulligans!" Alexander yelled.

"What?"

"Y/N is rich, for God's sake, think before you speak!" Alexander scolded.

"Oh--oh, God." Mulligans gaped.

"It's okay." Y/N nodded, patting him on the back. "I get it often."

"As long as you aren't hurt by it.." Mulligans sighed.

"Really, it's fine." Y/N smiled at him. Mulligans smiled back.

Her smile could brighten up the entire room. She could brighten up the most depressed of the depressed. At least, that's what Laurens, Lafayette, and Alexander thought.

Laurens and Lafayette finished dancing. "Happy?" Laurens grinned.

"Yes, I am, indeed." Y/N laughed.

"Y/N!" Philip called. "What are you doing?"

"Talking.." Y/N replied.

"Come and talk with the rich boys." Philip smiled. Laurens looked at Lafayette, laughing.

"You're not poor!" he'd laugh at Lafayette.

"..I'd rather stay here, father." Y/N looked at the others, smiling before turning back to her father.

"Come," Philip ordered. Y/N's smile dissipated.

"....Goodbye, everyone." Y/N sighed, following her father.

"Hey, I'll see you later, alright?" Laurens grinned.

"Bye, Y/N." Alexander waved.

"Au revoir, ma cherie." Lafayette smiled sweetly.

"See 'ya." Mulligans nodded.

Philip and Y/N walked off to the middle of the ballroom to Angelica and Peggy. They were each talking with a boy dressed in fancy clothes.

Y/N knew, with Angelica being her sister, that she was faking a smile. What was she trying to hide? What would she be hiding?

A boy in fancy clothes walked up to Y/N, kissing her hand. "Good evening, madam." he smiled, flashing his pearly white teeth.

"Good evening." she took her hand away, hiding it, wiping it on her dress.

"My name is Charles Lee, I am a part of the armed forces." he smiled.

"My name is Y/N L/N." she nodded.

"What a beautiful name!" Charles complimented.

"Goodbye." Y/N left, almost without saying goodbye. This man wasn't someone she wanted to hang out with. She wanted to be around her new friends.

Y/N walked back to where her friends were.
"Y/N!" Laurens exclaimed.

"Hi." she replied, clearly upset.

"Are you okay?" Alexander asked.

"No." she replied.

"I see." Laurens sighed. Lafayette whispered something in her ear. Y/N nodded.

"I will be right back, copains." Lafayette announced, leaving the group to chat.

"So, what's wrong, Y/N?" Laurens asked.

"My father tried to do matchmaking." she groaned.

"Harsh." Mulligans said. "You should love the one you love, not this random dude you were set up with."

Aaron Burr walked in with Lafayette.

"Evenin', gents." he smiled. "and lady..?"

"Hello." Y/N smiled.
