Hello? -SH

My phone buzzed with the new notification. It had an unknown number attached to it. Frowning, I typed back a small reply.

Sorry, I think you got the wrong number.

No no, I this number is correct. -SH

I stared at the screen.

John? John Watson, right? -SH

I caught my breath as my eyes adjusted to the new message. How... how did he know-

Mike Stamford told me about you. -SH

I grumbled, taking a mental note to talk to Mike later.

Meet me outside St. Barts in five. -SH

I drew in a deep breath and exhaled loudly, my thoughts scrambling. What was going to happen? Grumbling, I texted Mike a small paragraph of confusion and sent it, closing my eyes in frustrating.

Meeting outside of St. Bart's seemed harmless... St.Bart's was a very public place.

"But better safe than sorry," I mumbled. Standing up, I grabbed the gun out of the desk draw and placed it in my pocket.

The streets of London seemed more jampacked today as I walked into the chaos. It was lunch and peak hour, so the roads were more congested, food stands were full and everyone was on their phone. I spotted St. Bart's just a little way up the street. I took a deep breath, and walked a little faster.

The hospital entrance was white and gleaming, with pillars outlining the door. People stopped and continued on their way but one figure remained there the whole time. One very tall, sleek figure.

He wore a long dark trench coat with the collar up to his ears. He had a dark blue scarf wrapped loosely around his neck and a mop of brown curls that sat messily on his head was bouncing slightly in the wind. His eyes were trained on me the entire time.

"Are you 'SH'?" I asked, as I walked up to him.

"Yes, I am. And you're Doctor Watson?" the man smiled suddenly, extending his hand.

I took it hesitantly  and looked around. "Listen, good thing we're in a public place. Who are you and why did you want to meet m-"

"You're looking for a flatshare?"

I stopped and did a double-take. A...

"Oh come on," I said, shaking my head. "Who'd want me for a flatmate?"

Mike...

"I've found a nice little place in central London, I'm sure together we'd be able to afford it."

I stood there and gaped.

The thin pale man finally noticed my composure. "Are you alright, Doctor Watson?"

I glared at him, shuffling into a more comfortable stance.

"Alright, it seems you are fine, just a little shocked at me. By me, all the same. Come on, get in the cab, we're visiting your new flat."

"I.. the what?"

"The cab, Doctor Watson."

I grumbled and climbed into the cab, amidst the heavy traffic. I sensed the tall thin man grin as he clambered in beside me. This mysterious person... I didn't even know his name.

"So," I cleared my throat awkwardly, settling myself in for an uncomfortable ride. "What's your name?"

The man smirked at the window before answering in that chocolately velvet voice of his.

"The name's Sherlock Holmes."

After a few hours, I returned back to my flat and sat on my bed, defeated.

Who...

Who was he?

I pulled out my laptop and typed in the name in the search bar:

Sherlock Holmes

I scanned through the web pages, trying to gather as much information as I could of this Sherlock Holmes- who was now my flatmate. My flatmate. I only met him earlier today!

I spent the next few hours just reading over his website, the image of the sharp and piercing gaze of the man himself staring from the screen.

It was only when I looked at my watch in the midst of yawning did I put away my laptop, turned off my light and went to sleep.

It was the first night that I could remember that I slept like a baby.
