Tainted

June 19th

June 19th, 2017.

April turned to look at James, "Can you believe it?" She asked. "That we are actually married."

He smiled but was focused on the road. Fog clouded the road and made it almost impossible to see anything.

"God this fog," April said quietly squinting her eyes thinking it might help her see. A figure appeared in the road, a man. April noticed first and let out a scream. The car hit the man leaving the window smashed.

James pulled to a stop, "Oh god, what should we do." The two got out of the car. The body lay behind the car, bloodied and bruised. April shielded her eyes from the mangled mess.

He grabbed his new wife's arm, "April we have to go." His hands shook and his face was filled with shock.
   
"But-" She pointed at the man, he seemed to be a teen. "But, we can't just leave him, that's awful." He didn't listen and opened the car door for her. She reluctantly got in the car. April closed her eyes as tears fell. She waited for James to get in the seat next to her, but he didn't.

April stepped out of the car, "James?" She called out into the darkness. She then shut the door and started to walk out. The road was surrounded by miles of forest leading out of the small town, Green Ridge. She heard a thud and turned, her eyes widened as she let out a scream. James dead body lay in front of her, blood pouring from his throat. She started to hyperventilate and turned to run. She felt hands on her arms and she looked up. It was the kid they hit in the road.

She stared in awe, "But you were dead?" He only smiled. His eyes turned black and two of his teeth razor sharp. Before she could make another sound or try to run she fell dead to the floor. Her throat ripped open and blood everywhere.

One week later, June 26 2017

Audrey ran through a field going absolutely nowhere, she turned to look behind her. He was still following her, she turned her head back right as she stumbled toward. She tried to get up but she couldn't move, as if she were paralyzed. She turned her head to the side and saw his shadow approach. Audrey started to hear a beeping sound in her head. She began to scream as loud as she could.

She gasped for air and sat up. That had been the third dream like that this week. Audrey held her chest and turned off her alarm. "It was just a dream" She assured herself.

She ran her fingers through her shiny red hair, and her eyes a dark ocean blue. Audrey slipped on a pale blue t-shirt and a pair of shorts. She laced up her converse and headed upstairs. She lived in a pretty big house with her older brother Noah. It used to be Her parents, Noah, herself, and younger sister, Kristen. One night her parents and Kristen had gone out for a drive. Hours past and they hadn't been seen. That was until the police knocked on the door and informed her that a drunk driver had hit them. They found her parents outside of the car and her sister still in the car. They had wounds in there neck and blood was everywhere. That was two years ago and Aubrey knew that she needed to let them go, that's what they would've wanted. At the time Noah had just turned 19, and was old enough to take care of Aubrey. They have been living together ever since. The house was paid off, and they couldn't leave because they had grown up in Green Ridge.

She ran downstairs and poured a bowl of Lucky Charms. Her brother came rushing down the stairs too.

"Hey where are you off to so early?" He asked and then looked at his watch. "Well I guess it's not that early but anyway."

She laughed, "I'm going to the work. Where are you going?" She looked him up and down, he was in nice clothes. Obviously trying to impress someone.

He checked his phone, "I'm gonna go get Hunter."

Aubrey rolled her eyes, "oh yeah." Hunter was Noah's girlfriend and her and Aubrey didn't really get along. "I thought you guys broke up."

"Why would you think that?" Noah asked but Aubrey just shrugged not feeling like answering.
