"This is Edward," Dumbledore explained, indicating the boy. Harry nodded in understanding.

The door moved again and at least twenty people exited the office, most of them calling, "Good night, sir." Edward hid himself behind the nearest suit of armour. He looked as though he was determined not to be seen.

As all the people were out of sight, a girl stood in the door. She had very long, brown hair and you could see that, even though she was only dimly lit by the light from the office, she wasn't neither ugly nor very pretty.

"Oh, and that's Diana," Dumbledore whispered.

Diana was about to step out of the room, when she turned her head towards the office again.

"Are you going, Tom?" she asked in a soft voice.

"Oh, not yet, I have a question for professor Slughorn," came a response from the inside. Harry almost shivered. He knew whose voice it was and - what was worse - he even knew what that question was.

"For me, Tom? Merlin's beard, is there still something you don't know?" came Slughorn's voice, sounding very cheerful.

"Alright, I'll be going, then. Good night, sir," said Diana and started walking away.

"No," said a definite voice and Diana stopped in her tracks, then turned her head. "Wait for me in front of the door. It isn't safe to walk the corridors alone at this time. I won't take long."

"Oh, you're such a gentleman, Tom," Slughorn said between coughs.

"Alright, I'll wait," Diana said, finally closing the door with a smile. She leaned herself against the wall next to Slughorn's office. And this was when Edward walked out from behind the armour and walked up to Diana.

"What are you doing here?" he asked her pretentiously and she frowned. She looked quite confused by his sudden appearance.

"I happen to be a Prefect, so it's me who should ask this question."

Harry, though unsure if it was appropriate, felt an urge to laugh. It kind of reminded him of Percy Weasley.

Edward shook his head.

"You act so confident, Diana, but it's no use."

"Do you want me to take points from our own house, Edward? No? So get out of here already," now she sounded deadly, Harry thought, and he quickly forgot about her resemblance to Percy.

Edward snorted.

"I don't care about points, Diana. I want justice."

"What justice?!" the girl looked bewildered. "What justice, Edward? I know you're jealous, I'm not stupid."

"Jealous? Oh, please," Edward crossed his arms, "Riddle has no feelings, so I don't think there's anything to be jealous of."

Diana looked as though she was about to burst out. When Harry thought things were going to get out of hand, the door opened and Riddle came out.

Edward froze, as though Merlin himself has just exited Slughorn's office. He gulped.

"Speak of the devil," he finally said, though Harry knew that he had had much difficulty.

Voldemort gave him a look that said everything. Harry could tell Edward was a bit scared. Even back then, being looked at by Voldemort wasn't anything pleasurable.

"You have any business to Diana?" Riddle asked and before Neigh replied, he added, "You'd better not."

And without any further discussions, Riddle bowed a little, showing Diana to walk first, leaving Edward speechless.
