"Jesus Charles, when is this going to stop"? I heard my mom ask. I was laying in my bed, in the dark, with my bedroom door peaked open letting some light in from the living room. I looked over at the clock next to my bed. 2:34am. It was typical of my dad to come home this time of night. "You need help Charles". I heard her say again. "I don't need any help"! He shouted. I got out of my bed and tip-toed in the hallway, peaking at my parents who were arguing. "You come home every night drunk. You're ruining our family". My mom said, this time with more anger in her voice. "I'm ruining our family? I bust my ass off everyday, protecting this family"! My dad yelled. "Olivia, what are you doing? Go to bed"? I heard a whisper. I turned around and saw my older brother Kyle standing by his bedroom door. "But mom and dad, they're fighting". I said. He took my hand and brought me back to my room. I plopped back in my bed as he tucked me in. "Look, dad loves us. That's why he is an Agent. He puts the bad guys away and keeps us safe.. but sometimes the job isn't easy and he see's some really bad things. It makes him sad and he doesn't know always how to handle the pain". Kyle explained. I nodded, understanding. "Come on scoot over, I'll sleep with you tonight okay"? I scooted over as he got under the blanket with me. I shut my eyes but before I could fall asleep, I heard a loud bang. and another. Kyle rushed out of the bed, "Stay here". He said sternly. I started to cry. After a minute or two, I went out to the living room where Kyle was. "Kyle"? I asked. I saw him standing in front of my parents, both laying in a pile of blood. Mom had a hole through her chest. My dad with a hole in his head and a gun in his hand. Kyle didn't say anything or move a muscle.
Present Day
"Okay Olivia, you got this". I said to myself before walking into the BAU. "Hi there, how can I help you"? The woman at the front desk asked me. "I'm here to see Agent David Rossi". I nervously said. "Go straight down the hall and his office is the first one on the right". "Thank you".
His door was open but I still knocked. "Yes"? He asked, not looking up from his desk as he was writing. "Dave"? He suddenly looked up at me and smiled, "Olivia? Olivia Phoenix is that you"? He got up from his desk and hugged me. "Yeah it is". I said smiling, hugging him back. Rossi and my dad used to work together. "Wow, you've grown to be a stunning young lady". He complimented. "Here, take a seat". He gestured me to a chair next to his desk. "Thank you". I sat down. "What brings you here to the BAU? Is everything okay"? He asked with a confused look on his face. "Everything is fine. I'm actually here for the open position". I said putting my paperwork in front of him. "As an FBI Agent"? He asked picking them up. I nodded. "You've finished all the school and training? But you're only what, 22 now"? He asked. I nodded again. "I finished early". "Yeah two years early. This is incredible work". He said looking at my resume. "Your father would've been extremely proud". I half smiled. "But are you sure you want to do this"? He asked. "Of course. There's no doubt in my mind". He nodded. He knew what the job did to my dad. "I'll hand these over to Agent Hotchner... well speak of the devil". Dave said looking behind me. I turned around and saw a man, around his early 40's. "Hotch, we have an applicant. This is Olivia Phoenix". "Aaron Hotchner". He said introducing himself. "Nice to meet you Agent Hotchner". "Phoenix, as in Charles Phoenix"? He asked. "You knew my dad"? "Yes. Your dad is greatly respected here at the BAU. He was one of our best Agents". I half smiled. "We'd be more than happy to have you on the team". Hotchner said. Rossi handed him my paperwork. "I'll look over this and give you a call". I nodded. "It was good to see you Olivia". Rossi said hugging me once more. "You too, Dave". "Nice meeting you sir". I said to Hotchner before leaving. As I walked out of his office, I suddenly bumped into a very tall, light brown haired man. making him spill his coffee all over himself. "Ouch". He yelped in pain. "Oh my god, I am so sorry". I said, grabbing napkins that were on the table next to us. I tried rubbing the coffee stain off his cardigan. "It-it's fine". He said. "I am such a klutz". I said, still trying to remove the stain. "Really, its fine". He said once more. I looked up at his dark brown eyes. "I uh, I should go". I said quickly walking away.
