He nodded taking a few more steps toward me. This wasn't the Sam I remembered. He smiled and reached out to me.

I took a step back, knocking into Maddie. I shook my head.

"Whats wrong? Are you alright?" he asked.

I nodded.

"Y-you're not the Sam I remember."

"I know, for some reason you didn't age while you were in a coma. They don't know why. But I am so sorry Babe, I never meant to hurt you."

I cringed at the sound of him calling me babe. It didn't feel right.

"It isn't your fault, I knew my boundaries, and I didn't care."

He nodded and smiled and reached out to me.

I shook my head and pulled away from him.

"I think we should give you two a minute, come on Maddie." the nurse said pulling Maddie out.

Without Maddie's touch I felt bare.

"What's wrong?"

"This isn't right. I love you, but this doesn't feel right."

"What do you mean, don't you still want to be with me."

"I do, but not like this, you aren't my sam, I missed growing up with my Sam, my sam, who looked like he was 15. Not 50. I mean, even if it did, what would people think. And you know, you knew we could never be together, I mean, at least not in a real way."

He shook his head. "But we can, I did this for you." he gestured to himself and the bed.

I looked at him. "Sam? Why are you in the hospital?"

He looked down, I walked over to him, he was taller by a good foot.

"I knew we couldn't be together, if I was healthy...so..."

I shook my head. He couldn't of done it, he would never. "Sam, did you...get yourself sick...with what I have?"

He looked up at me. Tears were in his eyes. he nodded.

"SAM!" I yelled. "You still think it was a good idea. You look 40 years older than me, and by now you should've gotten over me. You should have moved on! I thought you were smarter than that."

I didn't know why I was mad at him, maybe I did, maybe it was because he cursed himself to an unwanted life. in and out of hospitals, not knowing what to do, knowing if you were in a relationship it could kill you. I didn't want that for him. I wanted him to live his life.

"I did this so we could be together. I did this for you." he said.

"Before, or after I was in a 40 year, no aging coma." I said. "You are risking your life to death, basically putting yourself in a coffin and nailing it shut yourself. I...I can't"

I took a step back, then I walked out of the room, leaving him standing there. Once the door closed I noticed Maddie standing against the wall with her arms crossed and her head down. She looked mad.

"Did you hear any of that?" I asked.

"All of it," she said looking up. "And what he did was selfish, if he did love you he wouldn't risk killing himself for the slight chance of being with you. And 40 years later expecting you to still be with him, I don't even know how he didn't move on, he seems obsessed."

I nodded I knew she was right.

"Your parents are downstairs."

I nodded. She walked me back to the elevator.
