Mina's POV
The day went by quickly since my family and I, well most of us at least were in high spirits that I have found my mate.
One good thing about today is that there was less crying when my mom and I sent off Walden at the airport whereas there was normally long bouts of bawling before, that seemed like he's moving to another planet instead of a 3 month training camp.
We were already on our way back home but mom has not stopped teasing me about the romantic possibilities that Carter and I might share.
Has Carter kissed you yet? She asked with a silly grin on her face.
Mom, no. Plus I wouldn't tell you if he had. I said with my face warming up.
Well, he will surely do it tonight. Wait, are you blushing? She continued and laughed out loud.
Mom. Stop. I responded and turned to the window so she wouldn't see me turn into a tomato.
All of a sudden, I noticed wolves that were running along the tree line. They seem like blurred shadows but I know what they are.
I was about to warn mom while still looking out the window when the car hit something hard and suddenly came to a halt.
The airbag inflated and we were both so stunned.
Mom didn't have a chance to react when the window by her side shattered and she was dragged out of the car by two rogues.
I screamed and fumbled for the door handle but about five rogues started to viciously shake the car. Their eyes were red and wild. I held on to the headrest and the roof so I wouldn't get thrown around.
My tears started to fall when I caught a glimpse of my mom in the woods trying to fight the two rogues that got her.
She managed to shift into her dark brown wolf but it didn't help.
One of the rogues slashed at her side while the other bit her leg and is trying to break it off by swinging its head from side to side.
It was heart wrenching.
I called out to Raziel in my mind. I need her but nothing happened.
I looked helplessly at my injured mother while she fights for her life.
The rogues continued to shake the car while taunting me with the vile things that they will do to me.
Slowly, I felt Raziel's dark energy taking over. Like she is coming forth from a far off corner of my mind but before I could completely shift, several warriors from a neighboring pack jumped to our aid out of nowhere.
The rogues by the car have scattered to fight. I took that chance to get out and run to my mom.
None of the wolves have come to her aid yet because she was a little farther into the wooded area.
I didn't care that I haven't completely shifted and that my only weapons against her two tormentors were my elongated claws. I growled and clawed at them.
One of the rogues ran towards me and I kicked him in the snout. He rammed into a tree and weakly whimpered. The other lunged and tried to snap his teeth at my face but I jumped out of his way and turned to catch him by the throat to slash at him. I made sure that my nails were deeply embedded into his neck and took out as much chunk of flesh as I could.
Nobody hurts my family.
He dropped dead on the ground.
I turned my attention back to the first one who has now managed to get up and was seemingly undecided on whether to attack or not.
By that point, I was already seeing red and Raziel seemed to have blocked out all compassion in me.
I stalked to where the filthy blonde rogue is. He tried to run but I jumped as high as I could and landed a punch on his spine. I heard a loud crack after. He then fell on the ground and went limp.
I was still kneeling on the wolf's back when I felt the dark energy starting to dissipate and I was feeling tired. So tired.
That was when I felt a sharp pain to my back. I turned around and saw a bulky looking man with angry red eyes. He pulled out the bloody silver knife. He was about to plunge it again but I raised my arm to block his attack while swiping my elongated claws at his neck with the other.
He fell on his knees and blood started to flow from the very deep and long wound on his neck. He tried to stop the bleeding with his hands while making gurgling sounds.
I looked around and was horrified at the state of the three rogues but my mom needs medical attention.
I staggered towards her and examined her condition.
You have your wolf now. She said weakly and smiled.
Shhh mom. Don't talk. I told her and managed to lift her onto my back.
I was physically drained but I didn't stop walking.
The fight between the warrior wolves and rogues have not yet stopped so I jabbed my nail into the airbag and drove the car to the nearest hospital of the same pack that helped us out.
They brought my mom into the emergency room and I was left waiting in the hallway.
A lady doctor offered to check my injuries but I refused.
I wouldn't go anywhere until I know that my mom is safe.
The doctor came back after a while and gave me clean clothes and towels.
I called my dad first and told him what happened to mom before quickly ducking into the restroom to clean away the blood and gore.
It was only then that I realized that I have a deep cut on my left palm and it looked burnt and infected because of the silver. I also tried to clean the wound on my back with soap and water before changing into clean clothes.
The wounds have thankfully stopped bleeding because of the burn from the silver but they would for sure take a long time to heal.
It took my dad 30 minutes to reach the hospital.
Less than 10 minutes after that, the doctor who have worked on my mom came out of the emergency room and shook his head sadly.
He said that she got deep lacerations and one of those had managed to damage a major artery.
My dad quickly signed all the paper work that was placed in front of him so that the hospital could send her body to our pack.
I was waiting for him so we could both go into the emergency room to see mom but to my surprise, he roughly grabbed me by the arm and took me home.
I didn't really know what to do in the situation. It all felt surreal.
We were just joking and laughing together and now she's gone. However, no tears fell. It is like she's not truly dead if I don't cry.
I went to my parents' room and took out mom's wedding dress from the closet. I placed it on the bed. I also prepared her favorite pearl earrings and left them on top of her dressing table so that I could grab them when she's been brought back to the pack.
My dad had gone into his office after we got home and he's been there for over an hour now. He hasn't said anything and didn't cry either.
Oh my, Walden. I hurriedly went downstairs. I have to ask dad about how to inform my brother and sister.
