She appeared on an island. The beauty of life was absent in her presence; she stood grounded. It emerged from the darkness, it's skin illuminating in the dimly lit moonlight. she stared into it's eyes, hypnotised by its gaze. It had the desire for authority without the power to attain it and yet, she was afraid.
"You have seen the shadows of the past leaping to the life in the bodies of living men that show." It murmured, with curious quivering ripples like variations on a flute.
Its yellow teeth sunk into its battered chapped lips. She shut her eyes, silently praying. The soft sound of the ocean waves moving to and fro hit her ears. She slowly opened her eyes only to be greeted by the beast standing at a closer distance.
She averted her eyes to the jewels in the silent night sky. Each gem sparkled in place, radiating with immense beauty. A sigh slipped through her lips.
