ALEX'S P.O.V.

When we arrived at the drive-in, Dally, Johnny and Pony left to go find a place in the fence to sneak through, while the rest of us paid the quarter to get in. We met up with them at the seats in front of the snack bar and sat. Ponyboy sat on one of my sides, and Dally on the other. I tried to watch the movie, assuming that's what they wanted to do when they came to the drive-in, but they were all talking. Next to Pony, Soda and Isabella sat side by side. Isabella chewed hard on her gum that she somehow still had, while occasionally giving Soda kisses. A few girls we didn't knew sat in front of us, and Two-Bit, Johnny and Steve sat behind us. I squinted, pretending to pay attention to the movie when out of the corner of my eye I was watching Soda and Isabella. Isabella whispered things into Soda's ear that made Soda's face turn red.

"Aye Johnny man, wanna get a coke?" Pony asked standing up from his chair with a sour look on his face.

I snickered, and could tell that Pony had heard something he shouldn't have from Isabella's whispers. Pony looked at me and smirked, rolling his eyes at the two who weren't catching on that we all knew what they were doing. "Get me one will ya?" I asked, flipping Pony a dime.

He nodded, and climbed over the row of seats to walk with Johnny to the snack bar behind us. I folded my arms and looked back to the movie screen, tuning out the snickering and hushed tones coming from Soda and Isabella.

My attention was turned away once again from the movie when Dally flopped his feet onto the chair in front of him. A girl with long brown hair that was pulled back in a ponytail sat in that chair. She whipped her head around, flinging her ponytail to the side of her shoulder. She was very pretty, and by the looks of her clothes, a soc, or at least middle class. "Getcha feet off my chair!" She squealed, pushing his clunky boots off of the back of her seat.

I looked to Dally, trying to act uninterested in what happened next. Dal' eyed her coolly, as if nothing had happened between them. "What's your name?" He asked keeping a cool, straight face. I furrowed my eyebrows, looking back at the girl. Her friend with blonde hair who sat next to her had also turned around to look at Dallas. "Hm?" He hummed.

"That's none of your business greaser." She hissed.

Yep, definitely a soc. Dally smirked dangerously at her. Even my stomach twisted at his expression. She leaned back slightly, showing she got the same feeling. Dally ruffled his soft hair. "Well would you look at that!" He chuckled, smiling with his messy hair. "No grease in this head of hair." He leaned forward, towards the girls, making them both cower to the edge of their seats in fear. "Never really liked the stuff. Got in my hands and on my clothes and stuff." Dally laughed out loud, causing the girls to jump slightly. I couldn't help but smile a little. "So if I'm not a greaser, what am I?"

She narrowed her eyes and waited a moment. "You're a hood!"

Her friend who had been silent until now spoke up. "You're Dallas Winston." She choked out. "He got picked up by the cops 'few weeks ago--a Jail bird." She mumbled to her friend.

The dark haired girl clenched her jaw and glanced at me. "What are you smiling about?" She spat.

I raised my eyebrows and couldn't help but let out a giggle. "Nothin'." I bit the insides of my cheeks to keep from laughing more.

"Yeah nothin', that's what I thought." She muttered turning around in her seat.

Johnny and Pony came back and handed me a coke. I thanked them and looked back to Dally. He smiled devilishly at me, silently telling me he wasn't done with the two girls. I nodded at him, deciding to play along. I tapped the dark haired girl's shoulder after taking a gulp of my soda. "I like your shirt." I smiled.
