I walked into the girls' locker room. Walking into one of the empty changing rooms, I began to change into a thin gray and white hoodie and jeans. I finished and walked out of the changing room only to bump into somebody.
"I'm sorry!" I exclaimed and soon realized it was Katelyn I bumped into.
"It's okay," She pushed a strand of brown hair behind her ear.
We both looked into each other's eyes and everything froze (ugh, it's soooo cliche). I felt myself get lost in the deep brown eyes. 'She has really pretty eyes' I thought to myself.
"What was that?" She asked.
'Crap! Did I say that out loud?' Our moment didn't last much longer though.
"Audreyyyy! Are you still in here?" Riley came into the locker room. We broke our gaze, backed up, and looked at Riley startled.
"Oh there you are. Hi Katelyn!" Riley said, oblivious to what she had done. "Hey, we should go. The bell just rang."
I grabbed Riley by the wrist and stomped out of the locker room while blushing furiously.
Katelyn's POV
Sophie and I walked into the lunchroom, holding on to each other's backpacks so we wouldn't be separated, and easily spotted the table where Audrey, Riley, and the rest of their friends sat.
"She did invite us over there with them, do you want to?" I asked her hesitantly, remembering what happened in the locker rooms just a few minutes ago. Audrey's gray-blue eyes were like a trance. I couldn't hit myself hard enough to get out of it. Ugh what's wrong with me?
"Um, Katelyn?" Sophie shouted in my ear, snapping in front of my face.
"What?"
"I said sure, we don't really have any reason not to." She replied, I nodded and carefully made my way over to their table.
"Hey Katelyn!" I heard Audrey chirp as Sophie and I sat down across from her and Riley. I waved in silence and noticed there was a guy sitting next to Audrey and I couldn't help but feel a little awkward. I don't usually talk to boys, or other people in general, so I felt my cheeks turn a bright pink color.
"Oh, we're going to go get some food, you guys wanna come?" Riley inquired, Sophie gladly nodded her head and tugged at my arm, this girl was always more social than I was. I dropped my bag on the floor and followed along.
In the line, Sophie spotted her favorite side, sweet potato fries, and squealed as if she was a pig. I giggled gently and watched her blonde curls as they softly bounced on her shoulders. I followed them as they got their trays of hamburgers and hotdogs, fries, and a small salad on the side.
"So, practice starts next week?" I inquired, finding myself at something at a loss of words at this point.
"Two weeks from now." Audrey corrected.
"Thanks. Sorry I'm a bit out of it today; I didn't get much sleep last night."
"Why not?"
"Well, after dinner I started reading a book, and next thing I know it's two in the morning."
"That's me." Sophie commented, making me grin.
"I'd like to say I do that as well but I usually binge YouTube." The guy next to Audrey chimed.
"Hahaha! Oh, sorry guys, this is James." Audrey said sheepishly, I couldn't help but notice the small blush forming on the apples of her cheeks. I kinda looked at her for a moment, completely lost in my own thoughts. I looked on until Sophie stepped on my toe.
"Sophie!" I whisper shouted at her. She nodded her head to where her hand was under the table and signed, 'You're ogling!' in sign language. She started learning it when she became my best friend, my older sister is mute (she can't speak) so we use sign language to communicate around the house; when she's home that is. She's usually out with her boyfriend or her girl squad.
I glared at her and lightly whispered,
"Am not!" She raised an eyebrow and smirked at me, then Audrey. I shook my head roughly at her, like that could ever happen.
~~~~~
In History I was dazed, I couldn't tell you what I was thinking about because I myself can't remember, but I couldn't get my mind off of something; it felt weird.
And Biology was no different, Audrey and I exchanged a few glances from her spot in the middle of the room and my spot in the back corner. I hope no one caught on to this though, they were pretty long glances and James as Audrey's lab partner was not any easier to stomach. Though Sophie was my partner it still felt weird considering what happened earlier. I did not like the feeling. It was as if my stomach was in my throat. Lucky for me we only had one more class then I was home free. But I had to get Audrey's information first.
