I was laying down on my bed in my room. Having a rest after all the recent hard work we had put together. Being a mother had proven hard, fun and tiring all in one for the past seven years. Phai was seven years old now. Where had all the time gone? It seemed only yesterday that i was sat in this very same bed, giving birth to her. Hera did her best, but as much as I hated to admit it. She was getting old. She was till a great pilot when it came to flying the Ghost, but when it came to ground missions, she was just getting slower. It took her longer to fire weapons and to run from positions vital to a plan. I dare never say it to her, because I knew it would break her heart, but the time would come when she would have to retire.
"AH!" I jolted up. That was Phai! I thought. I jumped out of my bed and ran out of room down to the Cargo nay to see Phai standing facing a few toppled crates from a recent supply run. "Phai!" I called over before climbing down. "Are you okay?" I checked her face and the rest of her. She had a head of long blonde hair which came from me, but her eyes still reminded me of him, not only that, but Phai looked increasingly like her father. It was weird sometimes. "What happened?" I asked, satisfied that she was okay. She pointed towards the crates. "I don't know, one of them just sort of lifted up and fell on the floor." She said, her voice slightly shaky. "Lifted up?" I asked, hoping it wasn't what I thought it was. "You definitely think it just lifted up?" I asked, my voice full of concern. "Yeah!" She said. "You didn't touch it any way or nudge it by accident. "I was sitting on the other side of the room looking at it!" She exclaimed. "I thought for a moment, I must have had a concerned look on my face, because she replied with. "Are you okay mummy?" I forced on a smile and pretended everything was fine. "I'm fine, sweetie. I just think you need to have a good sleep. "For once, she agreed with me. I took her up to her rom and tucked her into the bed that once belonged to Kanan. "Can you tell me a story?" She asked as I put her t bed. "Phai, it's getting late. You need to sleep. I will!" she exclaimed. "Just a quick one Mummy! Please!" I looked at the light in her eyes. How could I say no to her? "Okay then," I replied. She lay there snuggled in under her covers, and listened to what I said.
"A long time ago in a Galaxy far, far away...." I began. "There was once a boy, who had everything. Friends, a home and a family. He would play on the streets of Lo- Alderaan for hours on end and would spend as much time with his family for as long as possible. Everything was great. Until one day, big evil starship came out of nowhere over the sun. Making it go dark. Then soon, his planet was taken over by the dad guys, and he went into hiding with his family. Once a week, every week, his parents would put out messages standing against these baddies, but the baddies didn't like that. So, with great effort, the baddies wen about finding the family. It took months, but eventually, they found them. Just the mother and father though. The boy was no where to be seen. So, with no mercy, the baddies took away the mother and father, and left the by on his own." She looked at me with her covers up against her face and her eyes wide. "The boy was left by himself for the next seven years. Living on the the streets of Alderaan, until one day he comes across a group of people who stand up the Empire, and, well... what happens next?" She asked eagerly. "Well, he joins them, and soon, he sees himself as part of a new family. One that helped defeat the bad guys." She still had her covers up against her face. "What happened to the boy Mummy?" She asked eagerly. I hesitated. Not sure what to say. I had to think of something. Eventually, I spoke. "He lived with his family until his passing."
"Now, get to sleep, we're going back to Ryloth soon. You'll get to see YOUR friends again." She squealed eagerly. And with that, I kissed her on the forehead and left the room, but before I walked out of the doorway, she asked, "is someone gong to take you away Mummy?" I turned round, hesitating for a moment. I smiled at her, "never."
I walked over to the cockpit slowly, trying to think of other explanations for this that would make sense. "When I opened to door, Hera turned round to see me. "I heard her scream," she began. "What happened?" She asked, looking concerned. I looked straight at her, and she immediately recognised the look on my face. "She has it, Hera. She has the Force."
