Warning: This book is not edited well. There are a lot of mistakes and such. I made this when I was 12/13 and was terrible at writing.

The ringing and buzzing of my phone caused my eyes to flutter open. I twisted to my side where my phone sat on my wooden bedside table. Lazily, I grabbed my phone from the table, my eyes squinting as I looked at the extremely bright screen.

A large photo of Wendy, my best friend Daniel's mom, was covering the screen with the option to slide to open the call.

I swiped open my phone, and brought it up to my ear.

"Hello?" I said, sleepily.

"Skyler!" Wendy gasped in a shaky tone, making me immediately sit up. "Daniel has been in a life threatening car accident, please come to the hospital," she said, her voice filled with sadness and shock.

"I'll be there in 20," I said, hanging up. I quickly jumped out of my bed, grabbing my car keys and slipping on a pair of sneakers before racing out of the house.

My mind was racing with thoughts. Daniel was one of the most safest drivers I knew, he would never start the car without everyone buckled in, and he always ordered an Uber even if he only had one sip of alcohol at a party, he even put his phone in his glove box so he wouldn't get distracted by notifications while he drives.

There was no way the accident was because of him.

I parked in the big parking lot of the hospital next to a red Subaru.

When I saw the main doors my body suddenly came to a stop. Memories of all the times I had to drive myself here while I was in pain came flushing into my mind, but I pushed them all back and focused on the main problem, Daniel.

The lobby had more older people than younger, but there was still a mix of ages. Everyone sat in a maroon chair with sad looks on their faces.

I had no idea how people could work in such depressing places.

I walked up to the front desk where two older women with masks covering half their face sat typing away on their computers. They glanced up at me for a second before looking back at their screens.

"Uh, hello. I would like to visit Daniel Fletcher," I said, one girl finally looked up and fully acknowledged me.

"K," she said, looking back at her screen and typing in something.

"Name and association?" she asked, not glancing away from her computer.

"Skyler Fletcher, I am his sister," I lied. I knew if I said best friend they wouldn't let me see him as quick.

"Okay Skyler, doctor Tanners will direct you to his room," she said, gesturing over to a tall man with blond hair and blue eyes.

I followed behind the man and up the stairs to the second floor. We walked down a long hallway before he finally stopped at the door that must be Daniel's room.

"Here we are," he said. I nodded, thanking him before I opened the door and walked in.

Wendy sat down in a plastic chair that was pulled up next to Daniel, who was passed out in the hospital bed. Her eyes were puffy and red; it hurt my heart just looking at her and him.

"Skyler dear," she gasped, standing up and pulling me into a tight hug. She sobbed into my shoulder, while I sobbed into hers.

I couldn't believe Daniel was in a life threatening situation when he was only 17 years old. I couldn't believe he had gotten into a car accident. I couldn't believe I was here.

"I'll let you have a moment alone with him," she sniffled, pulling away from me and walking out of the room.

I took a seat on the plastic chair that Wendy had been sitting in, and took Daniels hand.

"Don't leave me. You are all I have. Without you, I have nothing and I am nothing. I don't know what I would do without you, or if I would be able to live without you," I sobbed. "You shouldn't be in this situation, this isn't fair!" I cried.

"Sky," Daniels raspy voice called, making my closed eyes snap open to his crystal blue ones. "You are the most beautiful, talented, comical, and intelligent girl I have ever met. You have a bright future in-front of you, whether I am in it or not," he said, his voice cracking many times.

"But I need you in my future," I sobbed, hysterically.

"Promise me you will never give up on life?" he asked. I stayed quiet for a moment, my eyes not meeting his. "Please Sky, please promise," he pleaded.

I sighed, "Fine, fine. But-"

"Good," he said, tiredly. "I am sorry Sky, I can't do it," he said, his eyes fluttering shut.

"No, no, no. Daniel no, please no," I repeated. Suddenly the heart monitor went off with a loud consistent beeping noise. Doctors came rushing into the room and pulled me out on their way in.
