CHAPTER FIVE

I was unconscious. Not long enough though. My breath came back and I was gasping again, scratching at the mat.

I felt a hand on my arm and the touch started to calm me down. I got a grip of myself and slowly opened my eyes.

The room was still the same.

Sadly.

Asher and Alec were stand in the room, but Asher had out more distance between us. He looked at me like I killed his sister.

"I can't live with it. She killed Enna," his voice was now quiet and sorrowful. "She killed my sister."

Oh. So I did kill his sister. Uh oh.

"She doesn't remember much from then, so you can't hold her responsible."

Asher scoffed. "Can't hold her responsible! She killed Enna. SHE did it," his voice was rising dramatically and his hands were on fists at his side.

He let out a growl. "Asher. Step away," Alec warned, stepping protectively in front of me. "Head will have you slaughtered like a pig ..... in front of your family." Asher flinched at the word family.

I crawled back, frantically, and pressed myself as far into the corner as I could.

"Scared," Asher's voice was mocking, cold. "Enna was too," he growled, glaring at me.

"Asher," Alec ordered, harsher than before. "Go before I loose my temper at you."

"Alec. Look at her! She's-"

"Yes. She killed Enna. She was a different person then. It's survival of the fittest out there in the city! Shes new, for shit's sake. Leave her alone! Go! Don't touch her or I will will have to hurt you myself! The city take the dream world and crushes it!

"Leave her alone. Those districts mangle you, change you from what you know. The only safe place is here," Asher shrank down from Alec who was now using his height to tower over him and his muscles were straining in his arms from his clenching fists.

Hot biceps dude....... Ugh! Focus here!

"Enna died. Get. Over. It. You want to know how many family members I lost from this war?" Alec now had Asher cornered against the door., and the look on Asher's face was terrified. "All of them! I have no family! None! Get over it."

That was the last word before I saw Asher run out, not missing the tear escaping his eye.

Once the door was closed there was a dead silence. It was killing how quiet he and I both were.

He pounded his fist into the wall, and a cracking sound echoed through the wall. He stepped away, presenting a large dent in the cement.

I looked at him and shrank back into the corner even more. His face was furious. His breathing was heavy and his hands clenched in fists. His jaw was clenched, brining out his defined features.

His eyes met mine and I could see him look over me. Realizing how scared I was, he relaxed. His furious face faded and some mixed emotion shown.

He had regret, still a little bit of fury, and concern. His jaw unclenched and his hands rested at his sides.

He took a cautious step forward and looked at me and I did nothing in return. He took a couple more, only a few feet away from me. He reached out his hand and I flinched back into the corner, burying my face into my arms.

I heard a small sigh.

I lifted my head and he was closer than before. I let out a silent squeak and buried my head back into my arms. I could feel his cool breath on my neck.
