Chapter 1: The Nickname

       Lucy's POV

"Finally, I'm a part of the guild!" I exclaimed. I jumped up and down around the guild waving my arms like they were going to fall off.

"Congratulations, Luce!" Natsu cheered as he walked up to me. His pink hair as cute as ever.

"Luce?" I question. Did he just call me a nickname? Already? Nobody in my life has given me a nickname, only my mom. My mom told me it was a sign of someone wanting to be in some kind of relationship. Hmm....interesting.

     "It's a nickname. You like it, Luce?" Natsu asked waiting for my approval.

     "It's awesome!" I squealed. Hearing the nickname made my stomach whirl. Butterflies swarmed around, dancing in a sequence of joy. I never felt this feeling. It felt like no one in the world could feel how I feel. I felt like personal fireworks were exploding when I saw Natsu. A-am I in love? I don't know how it feels to have a friend, could it be that or is it more? I got lost in my thoughts staring intensely into Natsu's onyx eyes. I was snapped back to reality when Natsu waved his hand in front of my eyes and by the gradual ascend of his voice.

     "Umm...Luce, are you okay?" Natsu seemed worried about me. I couldn't help but to blush at the fact of him being worried about me.

    "Uhh...yeah I-I'm fine. Just thinking that's all." I nervous look away. I didn't specify what I was thinking about because it was about him. Hopefully he doesn't ask about what. Then I would have to lie, which is my worst skill.

     "Oh...nice." Natsu commented softly. After our conversation, I went to the bathroom. when I came out, I came across a dark haired, shirtless guy.

     "Umm...where's your shirt?" I asked.

     "AHHH!!!" he glanced down and randomly found a new blue and white shirt and then whipped it on. Yep!!!! That's realistic!!!!

     "Perhaps I should introduce myself, I'm Gray Fullbuster!" Gray said very cockily. A smirked came across his face. He offered his hand for me to shake.

     "I'm Lucy Heartfilia!" I reponded as I shook his cold hand.

     "What brought you to Fairy Tail?" Gray smiled waiting for me to respond.

     "Natsu." I answered.

     "Pffff...HAHAHA. That's funny, tell me the truth." Gray giggled as he laid against a wall. Why is he giggling? That is the truth!

     "What's so funny, it's the truth." I stated.

     "I'm surprised an idiot like Natsu could befriend such a hottie like you." Gray winked. "Well I better get going. Bye Lucy, see you around!" Gray waved.

      "Bye." I said. What was that about?
I pushed that way and went back to Natsu. Who was fighting with Gray. Hahahha...well that was quick, but I couldn't help but wonder, what were they fighting about?

     "It's fine, they always fight." a voice crept up behind me. I jumped up frantically and spun around as fast as I could.

    "Huh? AHHHH Mirajane!", I fangirled. It's Mirajane my idol!

    "You must be new to Fairy Tail. What's your name?" Mira asked.

    "Lucy Heartfilia!" I exclaimed.

    "Hello Lucy! I hope you like Fairy Tail! I have to go wash dishes, talk later!", Mira waved. I waved back. So far, I love Fairy Tail!

     After Natsu and Gray's fight cold down, Natsu and Happy decided to walked with me back home, to make sure I was safe. He's so protective.

     "So, how do you like Fairy Tail?" Natsu broke the silence.

     "Is that even a question, I love it!" I excitedly screamed.

     "I'm glad your happy." Natsu smiled. Eventually, we made it back to my new apartment.

     "Well I will get going now, see ya Luce." He waved and gave a gentle smile. He turned around, but before he could walk further, I grabbed his hand. He seemed startled. The wind seemed to pick up as soon as we made contact. I felt the butterflies swarm around in my stomach, my heart began to thump more than usual, and I felt an unbearable pressure in my chest. This isn't a normal feeling with a friend. There was five seconds of silence before I began to speak.

     "I want you to stay, please. I'm not used to being alone and I want you to stay for a little, also it's all I can do for you. You've done so much for me today." I sound pathetic. I blushed. He blushed too, I could see it from the corner of his face. I could also see the grin forming on his face.

     "Ok." he responded, unhesitatingly.

"You lliikkkeeeeee each other!" Happy squeaked as he rolled his letters.

"Shut up cat!" I yelled.

We walked into my apartment, all the lights off still holding hands. I turned on the light. He finally realized we were still holding hands. I felt his grip tense and his hands got sweaty. Does he feel the same?

     "You can make yourself at home. I'm going to make some tea." I left the room. I can't wait to spend some time with Natsu. But Happy is kinda a burden right now. He figured out my secret just like that. I hope Natsu doesn't believe him because it would be awkward between us. Especially because he doesn't like me back. Should I confess? Not today. Maybe some signs of him liking me back will give me the courage to. I was waiting for the tea pot to scream when I felt someone tickle me near my hip! It was Natsu?

    "Ekkk!" I screeched.

     "Hahahhaha...wow I was just tickling you!" Natsu giggled until I kicked him in the stomach.

     "Owww! What was that for?"

     "Wow I just kicked you." I teased.

     "Very funny."

     "Come on Natsu the tea is ready!" I exclaimed.

     "Wow I leave you for 5 minutes and you guys are flirting. Sheesh!" Happy squawked.

     "We weren't flirting!" Natsu and I said in unison. After that, we drank our tea. Happy slowly fell asleep while Natsu and I were talking. I told him about my background. After I was done, he started to ask questions.

     "Why did you leave the mansion?" Natsu asked. I could tell he was curious.

     "My dad hated me." I responded bluntly, looking at the ground in embarrassment

     "Aww...come on he didn't ha-"

     "Natsu, I'm tired. This will be for another time. Goodnight." I farewell to him. After I got ready for bed, he came into my room and got comfy on the ground next to my bed. I drifted away to sleep after 10 minutes. I can't wait for tomorrow.
